I don't imagine he will be used as an.impact sub. I imagine he'll play from start against the sort of team that we'd need him more than Lucas. He's here to give is another dimension.

I agree. It wouldn't make sense to buy players just to stick them on the bench. Any target we have in the transfer market should be good enough to go straight into the team.

Youve got to question whether the lad is going to be a starting first team regular; against the lower league sides possibly, but against the top 6 and Everton, no way.
Didn't he play superbly against United & Arsenal ?
And in what capacity was that? As a defensively minded midfielder? No.
So because he did okay against them for Blackpool, we confine Stevie to a def mid role to accomodate him? Bollocks will we.
No ..... it just blows a fucking big hole in your theory that he's not good enough to play against the top teams. You have no idea what our formation will be next season or who the personnel will be, or what Kenny's tactics will be, so we will just have to wait and see on that count won't we.
Where did I say that genius?
What I said was he'll struggle to make it into our team against the other top teams because i) the way we set up to play against them, and ii) the players we have that have already proven how effective they are in this capacity.
Short of playing a 4-6-0 formation, Adam doesnt look like he makes it into the starting XI against Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs or Everton

Yeah I misread your post as saying he wasn't good enough to start against the top teams. Apologies.
Still, it's not often we have a clean bill of health so it's good to know that the lad is good enough to start if called upon to do so.
