Post Match CL Atletico Madrid (H) 3-2 17th Sept 20:00

Fucking hell this team gives your heart a hard time.

Definitely the best we’ve played and we threatened to run away with it.

Wirtz is definitely improving but fuck me tonight was made for him and still no goals and assists and again off the pitch for the winner.

Isak improved after finding his feet.

Salah with a goal and assist and should have had more.

That goal was vintage Salah, fucking love to see it. He was pissed Gravy knocked him off the hoarding 🤣🤣.

Speaking of which Gravy put in his best display in 8 months. He monstered them.

Fantastic to see all the subs and amount of freshness and energy they bring without a drop in quality.

I felt Hugo was unlucky with his miss at the end.

Finally absolutely delighted for Robbo, so many wrote him off, he’s responded amazingly to Kerkez coming in and has gotten his reward. Love seeing him score even if it was a complete fluke.

Up the fucking reds. 5/5.

You can't blame Wirtz for others failing to finish the chances he created...

You can and you can't. 5 games in and zero goals and assists. He needs to fix that, and there's only so much you can put on other players too, especially when they're actually scoring otherwise.

He needs a bit of luck and things to go his way, as we can see there's something, nearly, there.

I didn’t miss it at all. He was given lots of space. At the same time, he was diabolical for the first 25 minutes. His three involvements were misplaced passes or losing the ball then giving away a foul. As the game stretched he got those spaces and still didn’t make lots of key passes. All of which were not down to not knowing his team mates, they were off where they should be.

His passing is so fucking sloppy it's unreal. I thought he was meant to be a technical marvel? It's weird.

Wirtz will do just fine. Anyone can see he is a good player. He just needs to get used to the speed and the physicality and he will be ace. I have no doubt he will get it at some point.

I have no clue why everyone is being so harsh with him. Mbappe was shit in his first season with Real as well. Wirtz is doing alot better by comparison.

Didn't Mbappe score about 30 goals last season??

The spaces are tigher, you just don’t get as much room to pass the ball into.

It’s also clearly in his head now. He needs to relax and just enjoy his football. He’s clearly not. Mo needs to teach him to smile.

Yeah I think it's confidence rather than the environment. A couple of times in the second half he basically ducked taking shots on. Needs a bit of luck desperately.

Best £9 I ever spent.

Brilliant first half until the sucker punch right at the end. Atleti were rank average but tbf 2nd half they gave it a good go, our subs were horrible.

We deserves the win in the end but once again made hard work of it.

Slot gets the Rafa "slap-blessing".
Say what you want about Rafa but he's record in Europe is impeccable.
Wouldn't mind if he was consulted about scouting the opposition.

Benitez going into minute detail about a positional issue that he spotted in the 71st minute of the Burnley game.

Slot: "Yeah, I'd really love to talk Rafa, but I'm busy now. Er, email me, yeah. What's my email? I'm sure you'll find it"

We really need someone in the middle to step up and show some proper leadership and game management. It's been said time and time again, but there's just not enough rollickings being handed out for being careless in possession or being lazy off the ball. Either that or the players just need to find ways to be focused for longer stretches in the game.

Anyway, here's a new evolution of the monster that is Ryan Gravenberch

We all love a late winner, but it's physically draining.
It's not sustainable in the long run.
Athetico were somewhat lucky today, but still.

I want to talk about how we gave up a 2-0 defeat, but they were two daft goals, the first one should have been offside. The second one a deflection. You could argue we let them waltz through us at times, but still, unlucky goals to concede.

Yes, please a normal win soon please. It's like Kloppo's 23-24 season with all the last minute comebacks. Remember? I'm just realizing we were here recently.

Sometimes I think back to the dark old days before we had VVD and wonder how the hell we all got this far.

Just imagine we’d decided not to “overpay” and he went to City instead. That was such a sliding door transfer.

Let’s hope the likes of Isak and Wirtz will be thought of similarly in time.

Can you imagine if you let a player like gravenberch go, didn't really try using him much and now you get to watch him do that in the champions league?

Bayern wouldn’t have been the only ones watching him do this if fans had their way, not to mention any names.

There are parallel universe versions of us that had to watch the Sako and Lovren partnership for additional seasons. Poor parallel bastards

Fucking hell this team gives your heart a hard time.

Having been totally conditioned by the end of the Arsenal game, I'm like this now when we're not winning after 79 minutes:
