Clear out

I've often wondered whether another factor may be the leagues in which they play when loaned out, leagues which will all be more "agricultural" in style and standard than the Prem anyway and in which loanees from top Prem clubs could well be singled out for extra, er, "treatment".

=====

James McConnell completed his first minutes of pre-season this week with an hour for the Under 21s – and the highly rated midfielder is set to be allowed to leave on loan next week with Ipswich and West Brom circling.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who trained with the first team this week, was blocked from leaving on loan in January on request of Arne Slot, who wanted to keep him around for midfield depth. But after an injury over the summer, he is ready to leave on his first temporary move.

McConnell has self-belief that he can break into the XIs at top-end Championship clubs such as the two mentioned above, while Bundesliga sides and Derby have also posted an interest in signing him this month.

Futures still need to be solved for Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas, Luke Chambers, Calvin Ramsay and Kaide Gordon
– all five had loans last season and interest is building ahead of similar moves, or permanent exits, in the next three weeks.

Shame… looked promising - another one who’s development stalled after injury.

Fun day out that, might even be able to catch Stevie out there.
Our @StevieM is definitely going to the gym, even shaving his arm hairs

He was one of the most promising young players I've seen for us, it's a real shame.

Also, not sure why we sent him to the Championship in the first place. By last summer he'd fallen completely away from the first team picture - Championship loans should be lads right on the cusp of the first team squad. He should have gone to League 1 or even League 2 and just got some proper minutes.

I never quite got the hype, though admittedly I never saw him for the reserves. Lacks pace and physicality. Technique might be good but unless it's 10/10, the whole package needs to be better.

He didn't lack pace.

I'll take your word for it because you've obviously seen him more but just remember thinking from the brief cameos in the first team that he didn't look up to scratch physically. Perhaps he never got an opportunity to really showcase what he can do. Either way, a move away is a good idea.

He definitely wasn't ready physically. He was scrawny so there's no way he could go shoulder to shoulder with senior defenders. Whether that's changed now I'm not sure because I've barely seen him play in about 4.5 years.

A black friend of mine works in TV production, and when she was cutting her teeth she worked on The One Show at the BBC. Gregg and John Torode were on as guests promoting series 23213211392103 of MasterChef. Within 20 seconds of meeting her, Gregg told her a racist joke. Half an hour later he shouted at her when she passed on what the senior producers were proposing for his and John’s VT. He’s an absolute ballbag.

Bear Grylls is also meant to be a proper entitled prick behind the scenes, probably from being pampered with hotel service for so long.

Without him there would be no MasterChef Australia. You look like now a former icon of British TV. I say former, because he has been cancelled due to sex allegations

I look like lots of people.
