Clear out

I've often wondered whether another factor may be the leagues in which they play when loaned out, leagues which will all be more "agricultural" in style and standard than the Prem anyway and in which loanees from top Prem clubs could well be singled out for extra, er, "treatment".

=====

James McConnell completed his first minutes of pre-season this week with an hour for the Under 21s – and the highly rated midfielder is set to be allowed to leave on loan next week with Ipswich and West Brom circling.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who trained with the first team this week, was blocked from leaving on loan in January on request of Arne Slot, who wanted to keep him around for midfield depth. But after an injury over the summer, he is ready to leave on his first temporary move.

McConnell has self-belief that he can break into the XIs at top-end Championship clubs such as the two mentioned above, while Bundesliga sides and Derby have also posted an interest in signing him this month.

Futures still need to be solved for Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas, Luke Chambers, Calvin Ramsay and Kaide Gordon
– all five had loans last season and interest is building ahead of similar moves, or permanent exits, in the next three weeks.
