So season long loan to Sunderland.

I really like this move -

He'll play for a fellow Uruguayan, and probably play 20-30 games ... He'll get invaluable experience and we'll see if we actually have a player here or not.

Worst happens, it won't work out and we'll sell him for a few bob next summer. Best case? He'll be a dominant CB and we'll either sell for a nice fee or keep to challenge Lovren/Sakho/Illori/Skittles

I know what you mean, but I can't quite see it that way. Our CB options aren't ideal even now, we could do with a Coates who fulfils his potential and, even if it doesn't work out for him at LFC, we can always use a decent incoming transfer fee.
