Philippe Coutinho is backing Liverpool’s £55million duo Sadio Mane and Gini Wijnaldum to torment Premier League defenders this season.
The Brazilian playmaker believes the Reds’ two bumper summer signings will add a new dimension to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“I am looking forward to playing with them,” Coutinho said.
“They’re both very good players and fast players so maybe you can pass a long ball and they’ll arrive to it.
“I hope we can all do a good job together this year. There are a lot of players now and there is good competition in the squad which helps you to get better.
“It’s been very good playing with Sadio so far, but if anything he’s too fast! Everyone is very happy with him – he is a nice guy and very good player.
Coutinho was Liverpool’s standout performer in 2015/16 and swept the board at the end of season awards.
However, the 24-year-old insists he can still take his game to a new level.
“Sometimes I will watch my performance after a game and I will look at what I can do better,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.
“Yes of course I can still improve. I am here to learn more things and make my game better to help my team-mates. I hope this season will be good for us all.
“You always have to improve – that’s my mentality. If I could score more goals and create more chances it would be nice.
“I am confident for this season. I think everyone feels confident. Last season we had some opportunities but couldn’t take them.
“That has made us stronger and now we are hungry to win titles and to be able to fight.”

I won't be surprised if Coutinho score 10+ goals and make 20+ assists in the PL this season.

I'll be surprised if he does that.

But that said i think with that pair in the team alongside him there's less pressure on Coutinho to score. WIth a bit of luck we'll see him shooting less and providing more because those around him next season will have more goals in them.

The quote about these guys being fast suggests he wasn't too enamoured with any of our other wingers

Big season for Coutinho imo.
I think it's time that we start demanding more from him.

Same goes for Sturridge.

I agree. Coutinho was to young when Suarez played for us and because of that we couldn't demand top class performances almost every week. Now he is better and will have a team built around his strenghts.

I think Sturridge have lost to much pace after his many injuries. I won't demand top class performances from him. He will need a season to build up his body again.

Coutinho plays a lot better when he has pace around him with players making runs beyond the defenders. If he's lucky with injuries I can see him having a very good season.

Agreed, I loved seeing Coutinho finding a fit Sturridge with those defence splitting passes.
Depending on how this up coming season goes, it might be the last time we see them play for us.
