Enough with the self pity. Let's talk about all the exciting players we can (but probably won't) sign!

Lemar appears to be the prime candidate and we've also covered Mahrez.

Anyone else?

Klopp doesn't normally give up on those players he really wants, and he's really wanted Pulisic for ages, so I'm sure another bid will go in at some point, but he can't be a top priority here and now. We need to replace the Coutinho of 2018, not the dim-toothed twit of a few years ago who was forever dragging his shots wide and making the wrong decisions whenever he got near the penalty area. But who that could be I have no idea. I just hope the plans in place turn out to be wise ones.

Well he better make his fucking mind up and look at alternatives - we are short now in midfield - I think we need to get that Nabil Fekir guy - lets buy him. How much do they want for him ?
 
Lemar simply must be available. Monaco were prepared to sell him at the close of the last transfer window for the right price, so there's no way he can't be bought now if he's our top target.

You know fuck all about him. Why do we 'need' to get him? Because we are 'linked'?
 
Not if its means selling Coutinho now and buying nobody until the summer. I'm all for waiting for the right player, especially at the kind of fees we're hopefully gonna be looking at, but not when we let a huge talent go unreplaced in the meantime. If Lemar happens in the summer, then that's when Coutinho should go.
As it stands, I don't think we will have to wait until summer to buy him, as long as we're willing to pay up. We did so for VVD, so who knows what this month may bring.
 
It will be Lemar I reckon, but maybe this summer. Any potential loan deals, short term?
Draxler? Di Maria?
 
In terms of developed players (aged 22-26) who could come in and have the sort of impact that Coutinho had, there aren't very many options.

Lemar, Mahrez, Fekir, Ziyech, Forsberg, Carrasco really are about the only ones out there (not counting the likes of Isco or Asensio or Dele Alli, who we'd never get).

Unless we want to try and redeem one of Gotze, James Rodrigues, Draxler or Oscar, who've sort of lost their way. I doubt Klopp would be particularly keen on that though.

There are of course a bunch of talented young AMs like Pulisic, Coric, Kovalenko etc., but they'd need developing and will be at least 2-3 years away from providing the kind of influence Coutinho was providing.

All things considered, I do think that Lemar is probably the best option out there.

I'd give them a week. If they have something set up, they should make sure fans know within a week. You can't afford to let this drag out until the end of the window.

My mate at work told me that a couple of weeks ago - and I said I have not heard of any speculation on our side regarding this. If this is true then FSG are fucking complete twats because this is the equivalent of replacing Suarez with Balo, and Lambert. If we don't make the CL for next season because of this - then this is all down to FSG and Klopp. Its fucking stupid in every way.
