Coming off last night's performance, he played mostly as a deeper no. 8 than an out an out AM. It's not the first time he's played there of course - he's floated between 2-3 positions in his time here.
But given his lack of end product (and this doesn't show much sign of improving - his shooting is still crap, and he rarely follows up on his passes for returns in the box), maybe we're better off grooming him for the no. 8 role long-term.
His pressing has come a long way since he first came here, and he puts in a good shift these days (albeit only for about 60 mins generally). He's very good at taking care of the ball, so if we can get him to bulk a bit and improve his stamina, maybe we could make a proper meats and potatoes playmaker out of him?
