Dan Agger - A football thread

Then what does he actually want ? - is he planning to do an Owen with us or dare I say a McMoneyman ?

So according to people on here - he don't want to go to City, and he is happy here but does not want to sign a new contract with us which has been offerred. Ok - I get it he needs physical conditioning and mental conditioning by the looks of it.

He can be happy here and not want to move, but want to stall on a new contract as things over the last few years here haven't exactly been stable. He might love the club enough and the fans but ultimately wants silverware. Im sure he'd love to get it here but if he cant he'll move. If he stays for the coming season without signing a new contract I for one have no problem with that.

I don't really know what to make of Rodgers' comments, he sounds like a guy having his hand forced a bit, everyone has a price, but there's a kind of unwritten rule that you don't say that publicly. Saying it only really leaves yourself open to speculation. I get the point he's making, but if we are so keen not to sell, just like with Carroll, you come out and say "going nowhere", like he did with Suarez and to an extent, Skrtel, this just sounds like a guy that is stuck between a rock and hard place, short on money with a few prized assets that he's reluctant to let go of but on the other hand, thinks that by selling he might get a bit closer to what he wants, a bit quicker.

Probably bull shit but anyhoo.....

"@Ezizallamov: Agger outside of Melwood today, asked if he was leaving Liverpool - his reply was "never" (@_Niamhuss_) http://t.co/Fly0feCp"

"I think it's unacceptable to play for one of Liverpool's rivals. For a Dane it is about having respect for the club you play at.
"I am proud to pull on my Liverpool jersey and will never go to another club in England."

Doubt they'll bid 27 mill, at least I hope not.

But its a lot of money for a player with his injury record and contract situation.

Maybe weve told agger we want him to stay but asked him if its ok to fuck with Citeh.
Maybe the plan is to wait until theyre all moist and gagging for it and say 'TAKE ME!' and we say 'FUCK YOU BITCH!'

I have a problem with that idea - we have been hurt twice in the past with such behaviour (McMonyman and Owen) - if you love the club that much then sign up a new contract and commit, otherwise you need to show love for the club by moving on and getting that club some money in. Personally I think we should sell for £20M - regardless of how he feels but we should not go down that road where we lose millions in transfer fees by letting him run down his contract coz I guarantee that come next season (and if we have not made any progress - which is likely) he will want to go and his valuation by other clubs will be £7-9M max, and we will need more than that to get us out of the financial shit we would be in by not qualifying for the CL.
