I have to say I thought Spag was OK until the 'Paddy' thing. A twat in our village who I'd met once before called me Paddy a while back. Predictably, he is a complete and utter wanker.

I might come across as a wanker on here but i ain't one, get on well with near on everyone in real life, worked with Irish people before and they were both called Paddy, funnily had a night out not so long back catching up with an old mate and he had an Irish mate called...?, yeah you guessed it.

Its the same with most Scots aswell being called Jock and Welsh - Taff.

Why can't you answer the simple question though?

Its like groundhog day in here, i mean i have explained things over and over and gave you some examples and your still trying to nit-pick away (whilst ignoring the main point of the argument) trying i presume to make yourself look clever in some way? i'ld give up on that one if i were you.

Are you damaged or what?
I asked you why no one has signed Damaio since he's such quality.
Again you have no answer.
I'm leaving it here anyway because you're a dunce.

And there we go, the classic internet trait of losing an argument so lets revert to stooping down to picking out grammar mistakes, like i said you are not clever and doing that doesn't make you look it, a bit of self awareness would tell anyone that.

I could do the with you but thankfully im not a stupid fucking idiot with zero self awareness, thats the real irony.

You could do the what with me?
Leave it kid you're on your back.

Hehe, i was waiting for these examples.

Wake up mate its 2013 not the 1980s, football has moved on so far its almost a different game, in case you didn't notice.

Several other (modern) examples have been provided in this thread. Arsenal have had enough success to demonstrate that it's a viable strategy. Of course we want the best players, but if they can be found in the lower leagues then we need to be open to that possibility. Rule them out on the grounds of quality by all means, but it's incredibly short-sighted to rule players out simply because they play in a lower league.

I fail to see what @Spaghetti Legs has said that is so wrong?

Arguably Sturridge was proven, he scored goals in the prem.
Who's more proven Ings or Sturridge?

First off being proven doesn't "prove" shit. Downing pretty much debunked that myth.
Second, there's different levels of "proven". Depends on who you talk to really and who you rate.

I think what spaghetti legs is trying to say that we should be looking for an established first team player, playing top level football.

No one is saying Sturridge wasn't proven quality but suggesting you can't get quality players at 21 from the lower leagues is just plain stupid.

pretty sure we went through similar arguments when we signed Henderson, Adam etc... I really don't know anything about Ing, but the fact that he will be third choice striker tells you everything. We are out there buying a squad player when our priority should be to kick the dross out of the starting eleven...... We can start with Lucas, whoever is occupying the winger role and left back role etc.

Just caught up

Gameiro just moved to sevilla

Damiao is a good shout if they didn't want 20 mil

Di natale - 35 and 1 club man

Gilardino - @Roopy you're not alone!

Does everyone else want us to sign Ings or just using him as a stick to beat a poster with? I know nothing about Ings personally. I'm not salivating at the link. Lets not pretend it would be anything similar to the signing of Sturridge or Coutinho. Sturridge had shown on loan at Bolton and his flashes at Chelsea that he could cut in the premiership. Coutinho had played for Inter in the league and i'm sure I saw him play in the CL when Rafa was there. In both cases we had a feeling that we we're getting a player of high caliber at a reduced price.

Would Ings be a similar signing to Alberto? A signing that might not be ready for the first team immediately. It might not help us in a push for top four.

Oh and I don't have a list of players we should sign instead of Ings but Alan Dzageouv seems attainable no?
How's he doing @rurikbird?

Half expecting to be banned.

This sort of stuff isn't what i joined the forum for, just want to talk football (honest!)

Pretty obvious in the end that no-one really wanted to discuss the subject and were just looking for petty sticks to batter each other with, im equally guilty and can't help biting/fighting back sometimes, its lame really though, there is nothing wrong with pulling people up if they are talking complete shit, its fair game, obviously i don't think i was in here.

Anyway apologies for playing my part in this twatfest.

I had some sympathy for Spag until the last couple pages, which were shit.

It is fair to say that a Championship striker doesn't exactly set the pulse racing. That's not to say there isn't value to be had there but fees being asked for (particularly when top clubs get involved) make it pretty hard to get. Compare the supposed valuation of someone like Will Hughes to what Spurs paid for Cristian Eriksen, for example, and it just highlights the risk.

I don't know anything about this Ings guy so can't really comment on whether this is a case of Downing Syndrome or not. Amusingly my first reaction was to do what Fabio did on the first page and ask for Pesam's opinion.

Rational, explaining a viewpoint without going overboard, and seeing both sides

THAT is how one should post

Genuine question.......

Is calling an Irish person paddy, racist? Is it similar to the P or N words for the Irish?

Cheers

No. And if I knew somebody well and they called me Paddy I'd have no problem – banter and that. The problem is that it *can* be used derogatorily. Spag there for instance introduced the word as he was having a go at Ryan. He wasn't using it as a term of endearment, but as a slight. So it goes with 'Paddy'.

Rodgers keeps talking about buying players ready for the 1st team so buying Danny Ings would make no sense. He may have potential and be ready in a couple of years time. But we don't need a player like him, we've spent plenty of potential and need someone for now. Who? F**k knows, but its not my job to know. But i'd like to think our scouts can find at least one player and if not why the f**k are they in a job.
