I agree with you. My initial photo showed two Islamic clerics attending Queen Elizabeth's funeral, despite having plausible reasons to opt out unnoticed. I'm unsure why Mohamed Salah didn't attend, but I suspect it was to avoid excessive media scrutiny, similar to Jürgen Klopp's likely reasoning. However, Salah's presence would likely have drawn significant negative attention as well.
The Daily Mail has angered fans for showing Mrs Jota leaving the Church, and the mashed up car. There is a petition going around with 13k+ sigs asking Liverpool and Wolves' fans to ban the paper in Liverpool and Wolverhampton
I think it's most likely that the club agreed that they would send a delegation, they'd have asked the family how many people could attend so as to reduce media focus and to ensure family and close friends outside of football wouldn't have been excluded. They probably then prioritised the people who were invited to the wedding (as they'd have met the wider family then if not before) and / or whoever was already in Liverpool, as I imagine they'll have chartered a plane to travel there and back.
We shouldn't read too much into who was and wasn't there, and whatever his reason was for not being there, I'm sure Mo is gutted that his mate has died.

I don't have a problem with people not attending, for their own personal reasons, whether it be religious or whatever else, I'm sure privately they have all paid their respects in a way they see fit. I don't know the entire background of the story, but I don't think Diaz has covered himself in glory being photographed partying and not attending, that's different. Ronaldo, Salah and Klopp are obvious withdrawals who would likely have garnered too much unwanted press attention.
I had no idea Jota's passing would have so much reach but to see Aussie Rules Footballer doing the Jota celebration just speaks volumes. I have seen several US outlets carry the news too, and most of them couldn't tell you the difference between a defender and a midfielder
Let's face it, it's such a unique story before you even touch on how good a person he was and how lovely a family they are. I can't remember many deaths that have had this level of such a profound effect on people. It's definitely one of those inexplicable tragedies that will leave it's mark for a long long time.

See this pisses me off. Why can't you just not know and leave it at that? Why do you have to speculate? You don't know Salah, you don't know Klopp, you don't know anyone remotely connected to them, so why can't you just accept there are things you don't know rather than thinking you have to assign reason to everything?
If people are asking questions why X and Y are absent, why would it be wrong to give a plausible reason, especially if some people are assuming its religion based? @mark1975 said exactly the same as me. Because you don't know, can't possibly know, and are speculating over something so completely personal that you'd have no earthly idea about even if you'd lost someone close to you. As others have said, grief is entirely personal; even if there weren't other factors at play, that in itself should be enough for you not to speculate on it. Wonder in your own head if that's how you want to spend your time, but just because someone else is asking those questions, doesn't mean you have to answer them.

Yeah I really don't think we should be speculating about why Salah and the others couldn't be bothered to attend the funeral. It was their decision and they'll have to live with it.
Actually if someone has the purported photos from this year it's easy to check - open the image in a new Chrome window and then use Google Lens to find similar images on the web. If it's from a few years ago then they'll be there.

Who visited the memorial flowers at Anfield and at precisely what time? All nice gestures, but the commentary and speculation around it can all get in the fucking bin. Celebratory 'journalists' used to have to camp outside peoples houses, go through bins, and do all sorts of shit to get a story. Now they just sit on Instagram and see who has liked who, who attended what event, who didn't, and hey presto, it's a story. It's the same bullshit happening in football.

I only go to funerals if I'm ordered to. My brother is on the other end of the spectrum, he's looking them up in the Echo and Craigslist. I don't give a fuck how people grieve, even if they grieve. I think more about my lost buddy Bam, a bulldog, than my parents. Who knows how to deal with death?
People in this situation were literally on the other side of the world with their family having their only holiday of the year. I don't blame them at all if they couldn't charter a jet in time - or didn't want to.
Also, I think the whole coverage is verging on people's princess vibes. People die in car crashes. A friend of mine who did well from nothing bought a Porsche when he suddenly made a lot of money and within a few days he was dead. Oddly we were both 28 at the time. I didn't make the funeral because it was all very quick and he lived in Northampton and that's a fucker of a place to get to. It's very sad but if you're young and full of testosterone, maybe do sports cars on the track, or on your playstation.
As for Liverpool hitting pause on a strategy because someone died. Are you fucking mental? There's clearly a billion quid strategy being played right now. Jota didn't feature in it. Twenty other first team squad members do. They have one chance to realise their dreams, and no event will or should be allowed to stop that momentum. It would be disrespectful to assume the club would prioritise one iota of its ambition over the responsibility to the current playing staff because of a horrible accident that no-one could have predicted.
