Match Thread EPL Chelsea (A) - Sat Oct 4th 17:30

kerkez was doing his job on Neto who is an extremely fast and tricky winger once kerkez went off they targeted Robertson who once he goes forward has a tough time running back when we lose the ball .

Irrational fear:
Brendan Rodgers wins the league with us in that potentially magical season, and what happens ?

I hope im just seeing things and slot will actually adjust things

I do think we'll snap out of this rut, and I trust Slot, but fuck me, can we please start picking players on form, not on reputation?!?!?

Macca (my favourite outfielder), Mo and Cody HAVE to be benched... They're costing us every single week. And Konate, too. But, oh yeah, we can't... Knowing who's gonna start every match, regardless of the fact that they're fucking useless right now is starting to really do my head in.

For a player of Salah's calibre it's amazing how truly awful his shooting can be. That was Sunday League today.

I wish he'd just hit the fucking ball sometimes but he loves clipping it into the crowd more often than not.

You can blame Slot on the fact everyone can see Chiesa should play before Gakpo. Salah needs to come off when he’s playing shite. If I see one more attempt at a far corner curler when he isn’t even doing the basics well, I’ll scream. However, the being second best in nearly every battle, or the shit 10’ passes…How many shite passes went out into touch today? We can’t even manage the basics, and that’s on the players. MacAllister needs dropping. We need a settled team that can learn to play together.

Another poor performance but we're only a point behind and have played some tricky fixtures, without clicking into gear at all.

Szobo my motm again. Marmadashvili did ok but obviously not the quality on the ball Ali brings. Gravenberch was ok. Robbo did ok when he came on but was caught catching his breath for their winner. Mo, Gakpo, Mac, Kerkez, Isak all poor.
Whilst I agree with the first sentence and second (Szobo) I don't with the comments on Mama (doubt he could have done anything more and his distribution was fine, Ali's hasn't been perfect of late).

I thought Gravy had a relatively poor match (for him) a 5 by his standards. Robbo was slow and I don't get why Kerkez went off (he was handling Neto just fine and was not poor). This is his 3rd game in a week so I'm guessing that was the reason.

What is wrong with Macca? It was a improvement of sorts but still error strewn. Isak wasn't poor at all - he was quality on the ball, however he wasn't the one on the end of the chances otherwise we may have won not lost.

WTF is up with Mo. He looks done. £450k a week for that. And yet had Kerkez's or Gakpo's passes found him he'd have scored and he should have had a assist, not a great header from Isak but slightly behind him.

Overall I thought there were some good signs; Gakpo looked energised and for once was attacking his FB. Szobo was superb. Konate wasn't an absolute mess (but he is too slow on the ball), though Caicedo's goal is on him - he was too slow to react. Bradley is rash but still looked a better fit for RB and was getting forward well. Stupid, stupid Yellow Card.

Ekitike continues to look very solid. Isak is going to score loads. Even Wirtz had some runs through the centre and some nice touches and should have had an assist. I think he could and should have shot once instead of laying it off - confidence perhaps.

Overall we were unlucky to lose - we had enough Big Chances (3 in the first half to their zero) to have walked this. I don't blame Slot for going for it. They were there for the taking with both CBs off the field.

I bet you that if Chiesa got the same chance he'd at least hit the target

Well that was poor. Outrageous how so many are calling Slot a bald cunt or saying they don’t rate/like him.

Jesus, three games 2 of which were injury time losses.

The hyperbole kneejerkiness is off the charts even for SCM.

Based on how woeful his three efforts 'on goal' were, I'm really at a loss how you're assuming he'd have scored any other chances that came his way. He's beyond rubbish lately - granted, he's not alone in that - and he cost us points with his selfishness again today. He's paid 450k a week to win use games. This is putrid.

Because in both cases he was 2 yards out. Even on this form he couldn't miss.

Has he had a salary increase mid contract? seems to be going up again? thought it was late 380k? Now it's 450K? BS or FX fluctuation?

Yeah, we should be made up that 270 minutes of football was terrible, and he's persisting with players who a playing atrociously. It's ONLY 2 last minute goals

I didn’t say we can’t be disappointed but fuck me. Get a fucking a grip in general.

This season was always going to be an adjustment even with a superb transfer window as it takes time to basically rebuild the team.

We've not played complete games of football in a great while. It's not reactionary in that context. It happens all the time with teams. Slot thought our main issue last year was not being able to kill a game. He bought players who would help do that if the game state were similar. Every single one is a better at attacking.

Then, we couldn't earn the right to get that game state. We aren't playing to counterattack. We aren't as hard to play against. We aren't particularly fast. We pulled the blanket up and now our feet are cold, and when the foundation is crumbly, things can go bad quickly.
