With @dmishra 's glowing approval of the player, the chances are basically at 0.0% as Liverpool oppose his talent analysis for some reason when selecting players.
It's not quite that straightforward, I don't think. Bayern thought they had a free run and could lowball Leverkusen as a result. They could have wrapped this up some time ago really. The expectation from us and City was that he would be going there, and obviously that not happening has opened a window. City have, I think, been caught napping. It's still likeliest he'll go to Bayern but they can't pay the fee Leverkusen want, and Leverkusen want him to go this summer or to sign a new deal. Dunno. I think we have a chance.

He's German and most Germans seem to wank over Bayern similar to how Spanish speaking players view Madrid and Barcelona.

Not at the time but there's a difference between paying 70-75m and breaking the 100m barrier, and don't give me that "record signing in their position" bullshit either, 5 minutes later Utd were paying 80m for Maguire and Chelsea 70 for Kepa....the amount you pay doesn't dictate the level of quality that player is or could end up being.
I'd say they added equal success to our front 3 (100m combined), they were the last pieces of the jigsaw and you have to take into the account the pieces of trash they were replacing.

I agree with you entirely on your point about the amount you pay doesn’t dictate the quality of the player - you only have to look at Nunez for that.
What it also means is sometimes quality does cost and you have to pay top dollar.
£150m for Wirtz - what if he’s the difference in winning the next 4 league titles and a few Champions leagues.
What if he does it at City or Bayern and we make do with some smart, cheaper signings that keep us in the CL and help win a couple of League Cups instead.
I’m all for signing the absolute best and highest quality players we can - tge cost is just a number and it’s not my money.
The question for me is more - is Wirtz good enough that we could be looking at a generational talent, a Balon d’or winner, someone who can be talked about, if not like Messi or Ronaldo, certainly like a Gerrard, Zidane, Figo, Del Perro, Henry, Hazard, etc.
Why wouldn’t we, if the number crunchers can make it work.
Quality over quantity every day of the week for me.
