Florian and the (Slot) Machine

It was a stream so the one with Ally McCoist and the other guy who seems pretty good actually.
They are awful. Darren “Fletch” Fletcher is probably the worst commentator. He’s full of drivel and rambles on about anything but the match. Them drags McCoist down with him.

Eammon Dunphy - no thank f'ck

He once described Gerrard as a "nothing player" after a European away performance in the Rafa days; I already hated him, but that sealed the deal.

Hmmm. A history of hasty and over-emphatic rushes to judgment followed by invariable doubling down when called out on them....Has anyone ever seen Eamonn Dunphy and Dreamy in the same room together?

I think we can all agree he's being let down by his teammates.

He's definitely finding his feet (pun intended).
You could see that first assist last night got a monkey off his back. He looked so much more natural and confident for the rest of the game.
The poise and elegance on the ball has been there all along, but not always the conviction that he would make things happen. He had that last night.
It's only one game and against a poor defence but he's like the goalscorer who needs one to go in off his arse just to end a goal drought and get his confidence going, and poor defence or not that pass for Gakpo's goal was a beauty.

This conversation was bound to come wasn't it?

Soon as he got the assist, it's now suddenly all about the quality of the assist and if his other even qualifies to being called 1.

Well, the thing is, the question has largely been something like "can his obvious technique overcome tight spaces and physicality." The answer so far has been something like "not yet." Partially this is because he hasn't had great technique on his final passes, even if he has on his first touches.

Then he played a team that allowed a lot of space and was pretty naive and open. He looked good. That's great, but it doesn't help answer the central doubt, because everyone had more time to think.

On a related topic - how does everyone like Szobo in a deeper role? Seems like him and Jones gave Wirtz a better platform to express himself than in many other games.
He looked good, but Frankfurt's level makes it hard to draw any conclusions
