They are awful. Darren “Fletch” Fletcher is probably the worst commentator. He’s full of drivel and rambles on about anything but the match. Them drags McCoist down with him.

That's Premier Sports, which is not so bad. The RTE teams (like for last night's match) are awful, and Virgin Media ones are worse

There are normally about 4 CL matches on terrestrial channels (RTE or Virgin Media), other than that it is dodge all the way. My dodge includes all Sky & TNT channels, so I rarely have to go to a foreign channel outside Saturday 3pms.

Yeah, I like McCoist too. He's not the most insightful but he does at least sound like he genuinely likes football.
You could see that first assist last night got a monkey off his back. He looked so much more natural and confident for the rest of the game.
The poise and elegance on the ball has been there all along, but not always the conviction that he would make things happen. He had that last night.
It's only one game and against a poor defence but he's like the goalscorer who needs one to go in off his arse just to end a goal drought and get his confidence going, and poor defence or not that pass for Gakpo's goal was a beauty.

I admit it’s technically two, but hard pushed to call the second one an assist.
The same way Suarez gave Dirk Kuyt 3 tap in goals with 3 wonder assists. A tap in assist is still an assist right

Well, the thing is, the question has largely been something like "can his obvious technique overcome tight spaces and physicality." The answer so far has been something like "not yet." Partially this is because he hasn't had great technique on his final passes, even if he has on his first touches.
Then he played a team that allowed a lot of space and was pretty naive and open. He looked good. That's great, but it doesn't help answer the central doubt, because everyone had more time to think.
