Game raising

Is it just me or does every team we have faced feel like they are raising their game whenever they play us. People say we haven't been playing that well but I feel part of that is because other teams seem to be upping their game.

For example, Man Utd fans on Redcafe were celebrating the draw as a win, we didn't get Bayern Munich battered Spurs either, Sheffield Utd and Leicester were hard-fought wins and even Newcastle has the temerity to score first against us at Anfield. Also, Norwich bought their A-game to Anfield but and caused us problems until we out them down and Chelsea made us work too. Compare this to City who don't seem to have struggle.

Yes, we have dominated teams still but it feels more laboured this season when I watch the guys. Its possibly partly because teams feel like they can work out Klopp's tactics and because we are the Euro League winners and everyone wants that little bit of prestige from beating the Euro champions.

Either way if we win it this season it will be a remarkable feat.

There's also the opposite - teams fears us ... but when you're the top team in England or Europe, every team will want to 'knock you off your perch' ... it's part and parcel of being the best.

I said this last year and i'll say it again. It's harder for us to win the league since we have so many old rivals who are motivated to ensure we don't ever win the PL.

Man City have: Us and United. And United would rather lie down against City and take points against us, as last year showed. Most United fans became City fans. They didn't even hide it. In fact, they still are.

However we have: United, Everton. Traditional rivals.

As well as clubs who hate us: City (knocking them out of CL), Chelsea (since CL Benitez days), Southampton (Virgil + others we've picked off them).

Then we have other random rivalries for weird reasons: Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle.

Even the likes of Sheff Utd (since the Warnock days) and Burnley (Klopp vs Dyche) have got irrational rivalry with us.

This is part of the reason I feel like teams raise their game against us. I mean, is there another club more hated/envied than Liverpool?

The Devil's Club. The Unbearables.

We're hated cos we're everything they want to be. We've been (relatively speaking) in the footballing wilderness for the best part of three decades, but we're still better supported globally than almost any other club, attract millions to celebrate when we in something, & are just fucking bigger, than almost all of the clubs who have winning things whilst we've toiled below them.

They hate us for it, & it will get worse the more successful we become.

Long may it continue!

Mr Google says we have only 50 millions world wide fans being the second most supported EPL club while Man U has more than 100 million. Why are ethey still bitching at us?
