If Croatia and Spain draw 2-2 in their next game they both go through, knocking Italy out.

Will it happen ?

From the UEFA TV monitor testing:

Reported by Italian press

And by English press

DESPITE both camps denying they will fix the scoreline, Uefa themselves seem to believe tonight's Euro 2012 clash between Spain and Croatia will finish in the 2-2 draw that guarantees both sides reach the quarter-finals.

According to Spanish websites, when testing their internal TV systems before the game European football's governing body shocked fans by predicting a 2-2 draw.

If such a result were to occur, it would knock Italy out of the competition whatever their result against Ireland in the other Group C match tonight.

Bookies have slashed the odds on a 2-2 result this week, even though both Croatia and Spain have insisted they will both be playing for a win.

Croatia midfielder Niko Kranjcar dismissed claims there could be an agreement between the two sides.

“A 2-2 draw? Definitely not. I never thought about that and I just can’t see it happening," said the former Tottenham star.

And Spain defender Gerard Pique has stated that his side will aim for victory because "we don't know how to play any other way."

But Uefa's apparent uncanny prediction is sure to lead to protests from the Italians if the result they dread does occur.

A snap of the reported test shows Mario Mandzukic and Nikica Jelavic scoring for Croatia, with Fernando Torres and Andres Iniesta replying for Spain.

But Torres' miserable season seems set to continue, with Uefa supposedly suggesting he will be sent off just after half-time.

Marcello Lippi is one of the most authoritative voices in Italian football. The former 'Squadra Azzurra' coach, World Champion in Germany 2006, gave his opinion on the supposed agreement that may exist between Croatia and Spain.

The 2-2 result that would leave Italy out of Euro 2012 continues to be a talking point for the various interested parties. "Ask Villarreal if Spanish football is honest. I know that the team was relegated because two others settled on a result that was good for both of them", remarked Marcello Lippi.

The coach from Viareggio is referring to the end of the game between Rayo Vallecano and Granada in which a goal by Raúl Tamudo came to the rescue of the two teams, following that of Falcao for Atlético de Madrid in Villarreal.

"The teams always say before their games: How dare they doubt us? We play to win. I repeat, that is what they say before the game, but afterwards, they are always driven by their own interests. If they get a result they like…", the veteran coach stated on the Croatian website Slobodna Dalmacija.

Lippi is afraid that the Italian Selection will be left out of the quarter finals just like in Portugal in 2004, that time following a two goal draw between Denmark and Sweden.

Credit to both teams, they played hard and fair. The UEFA "screen test" was hilarious though, is this really true?
