Hatton vs Malignaggi

Justin TV links tend to be quite jumpy don't they?

Luckily a friend of mine has got it, so going round there in a bit. But thanks for the back up option!

yep , they can sometimes crash half-way through or buffer alot aswell. This one seems ok at the min...just hope i can stay awake!

I have no alcohol, & Luke decided it was playtime at 4am today, so I'm sleep deprived, as a result I'm gonna record it & stick the dvd on before I log on in the morning.

It's not the same, I know, but I simply cant stay up til 4am!

It's not the same Jon! Have a power nap now and be back up in time for the fight.

Nah, I need a full nights sleep, a few hours broken wont work, & cant stay in bed past 10am. It wont do me any harm waiting til tomorrow.

That was a lot more one sided than i thought it would be.
Great result for a Hatton they said was over the hill.
One more payday (est 20m) for Ricky.

Apparently Mayweather Jnr is to come out of retirement one more time. Hatton shouldn't take it. De La Hoya would be a more winnable fight.

De La Hoya is probably too big for him now. Maybe Cotto, Pacquiao or Margarito? Even they have all moved up though.

That said, although there's no money in it I'd fucking love him to finish in Manchester by knocking Junior Witter out in one round.

Id like to see Pacquiao beat De la Hoya, as Pacquiao vs Hatton is a fight id love to see. Cant really see Pacquaio getting past De la Hoya though, think Oscar will be too big for him.

Hatton as mentioned Marquez's name aswell, i think that could be a great fight.

Good perfromance by Hatton though, seemed to be jumping head first into his punches alot less than in previous fights.

Some dopey boxing expert was on SSN this mornin, and I caught him saying that the next fight will be held in a 55,000 seater @ approx £50 a ticket, so gate receipts alone would be 27 MILLION pounds.

I sent a text to sky sports tellin them the fella is a retard and cant add up but they didnt read it out.

Haha - was that Colin Hart?? He is a tit.

Fight was a a bit of a non-fight after the 2nd round. I quite like Malignaggi - yes, he was cocky but he is honest and you could see how gutted he was at the end.

I watched the fight on a stream this morn so it had all the HBO commentary which was far more fun than Sky. The yanks lamenting over the inability of their guy whilst begrudgingly praising a Brit made it all the more enjoyable.

Dunno Kid. He had white hair and no calculator.

Charming Brendan, as always.

I am gutted for Malignaggi, he's so much better than what he showed last night. Anyone who has watched both of the fight before would know that Malignaggi's usual style of fighting, i.e. his movement and speed *could* have been a problem for usual Hatton who's movement is very restricted, obviously it didn't quite play out thay way.

Hatton's change in style since Mayweather has been training him was clear to see yesterday, there was an irony in the way Malignaggi was holding onto Hatton, and Hatton was stepping back, skipping around trying to box.

Malignaggi is way better than what he showed last night, he didn't show up, whereas Hatton was well up for his return to Las Vegas, looked in the best shape of his career and had a new trainer who had clearly introduced new methods.

Malignaggi's corner shouldn't have stopped the fight either, like he said he's better than to have a KO on his record for that fight. And they knew he could handle it, as he did against Cotto. His trademark as a fighter is that he has heart and sticks it out till the end, no matter what, they shouldn't have taken that away from him.

His corner did exactly the right thing by throwing in the towel. Why let your fighter take a beating any longer than he needs to?

To let him go down fighting, with his head held high and have no regrets. Look, all the logic in the world suggested Malignaggi would lose that fight, I'm not disputing that, he lost every round bar the first and had no chance of knocking Hatton out, but Sport is unpredictable (again I'm not saying that the outcome would have been any different) but seeing something through to the end is what Malignaggi is known for, that's the kind of thinking that we had in Istanbul, see it through till the end, no matter what. He was outboxed, but it wasn't he kind of 'beating' that he couldn't take, he took far worse in the Cotto fight, he was losing last night, but still holding his own, his corner knew that.

Thats the thing though Anita he wasn't fighting at that stage, he was just taking an unnecessary beating in a fight that was long ago lost. I can understand that PM would have wanted to have stayed until the end, but why take the risk of suffering long term damage when its not needed?

Everyone knows that hes got heart, he ended up with three breaks in that fight you mention with one being to the cheekbone. I read the quotes from PM and even he said that his corner were just looking after his best interests............And he's right.

Those certainly weren't his sentiments immediately after the fight, he was irritated that they pulled him as he didn't want it to go down as a KO.

I guess it made sense to pull him , but like I said, it's not really true to Malignaggi as a fighter and as a character.

Incidentally, he only seemed to be jabbing with his left hand again, not sure if his right hasn't recovered fully from his last op, or if he's just not confident enough to punch with it now. It's hard to see a future for a boxer who only has one hand. Ah, I was so disappointed for him.

That fight was a disgrace, I stayed up to watch and even though I have a dodgy box and didn't have to pay the PPV fee I feel robbed.

Malignaggi is a shite bag. I heard somewhere that his ambition is to be a porn star after he finishes boxing. Well I think he might be suited to a bit of man on man action because he took a good pounding from Hatton on Saturday night.
