I enjoy football

Im a Liverpool fan rather than a football fan right now, for a few reasons...

We're back in the kick and run cycle of football where the athletes win rather than the good footballers. It's boring.

Football has always been a money game but now there's just too much at stake, it is ALL about the money.

When managers like Eddie Howe can be considered above average the game is shot.

Grown men throwing themselves on the floor for the tiniest advantage or to add a bit of doubt to a situation.

That's exaggerated by the referees being weak and beyond shite. Some of the decisions and reasons for decisions I just don't believe in, whether they benefit or hinder us. I'd rather lose a game of football than win a game of VAR.

I'll watch Liverpool because I have done since I can remember but the rest of football can fuck off until it sorts itself out.

I watch football in the same way as I have a shite or a wank. They're just things you have to do as part of the daily routine. If football didn't exist and they invented it today I'd laugh at it and say it was for dickheads. Zooming out, all sport is kind of weird. Why do humans do it? Even more, why do we care about other people doing it? I could go on, and I started writing something about that recently but I'm lazy and stupid and writing about something you think is pointless is even more pointless than engaging with the pointless thing.

Yet here we are.
And your point is?

I like watching good goals, nice play and our rivals losing. I tend to have a lot of football on, but most of the time I’m doing other things like chatting on a forum with some dickheads. Like I have the Newcastle game on and typing away. Some times I’ll be playing on my Xbox with a game on my iPad.

I never bother with international football.

Do I love football? Probably not, but I love this club. I’m not one of those which will watch any and every game.

I love football. Current Slot ball is a hard sell at present including the new signings. They all seem just boring and average, just in general and I see no player out there in the world who excites me.
I think it will change but right now, there are too many games and too many teams in competition to make care a little less about it. Prime football for me was Salah, Bobby and Mane. The memory off all 3 playing for us with Trent, Robbo and Virgil led by a mad loud insane German is insane and as a fan and grateful. I can always go melancholy about them till this current lot sort themselves out.
I always get like this sometimes, youth football watching kids and the parent drama on sidelines or cricket season watching mind play adult seniors cricket now while they use him as a bowler while bat him at 11 regardless of ability, get annoyed then non plussed and finally then I get the deck chair out watching morning/all day Saturday doing nothing….

I wrote this five years ago, and it was a load of bollocks because I'm still invested. But the point stands. At the danger of sucking my own dick Irvine Welsh said it was his favourite take on footy at the time and I got asked to do a more sanitised piece for the guardian, but obvs I didn't.

This football like the first half i just watched now Barca vs PSG lovely football from both teams they both are going for it and the touches are sublime. Simple football enjoyable indeed. Some of the football we played under Klopp was mesmerising also.
