I can't say mistakes haven't been made but we don't go from spitting distance of the title last season to a poor team fit only for a Europa Cup run-out and being cannon fodder for the top teams.
Injuries, confidence and yes indeed, even Lady Luck (any relation ?) have all played their part to a larger or smaller degree. We are a much better team than some on this forum are saying tonight.

Last season counts for nothing now. Look at teams like Athletico, great declines do happen. We carry on with this 'Oh it won't happen to us, the media are talking crap' but then when we have a chance to put it right, on the pitch, we keep bottling it.

You obviously have a different understanding of the rules than I do.
A foul in the box of any nature surely means either a penalty, or for minor offences an indirect free kick.
The foul on Gerrard was no minor offense.

Should clarify that I suppose, yes the letter of the law would lead us to believe that if a foul would have led to a free kick outside the box then it's a pen, but I was talking about reality. There isn't a ref in the land who doesn't bottle it now and again on pens and they all have differing views about how fouls should be handled inside the box. Gallas' attempt at the ball, while late and clumsy, was not malicious and reckless so if you ask me it would be a 50/50 for most refs.
