Is it just me about Sterling....?

I think it's a bit early to write him off, but much will depend on his attitude.

If he knuckles down, works hard at his game and strives to improve, he could become an excellent player.

However, I think it's more likely he feels he's already made it - an injury or dropped for a while because of poor form will tell us more.

Hope so, but not that it matters to them. Farm Sterling off to So'ton and chuck another £50m at the next flavour of the month.

As an aside, I never realised what a bunch of cunts City fans are until I stumbled upon one of their forums.

to be fair I have met a few City fans... Been with them through thick and thin... They are quite humble, they feel very lucky to be where they are tbh.. No way cocky with it..

But what you are saying are the new generation.. Glory hunters... probably..

City paid for potential. Even during his time at Anfield, it was clear that he wasn't quite the finished product. How he's a regular starter for City probably all down to the huge fee they paid for him.

Yeah, but one of my good mates is a long time City fan and he's a massive cunt.

Ha. Had no idea England were playing tonight!

I just can't watch them under that cunt Hodgson. I'm sure I'll watch some of the euros but fucked if I'm watching shitty qualifying games.

That's where I'm at with England..

Just can't bring myself to watch them whilst scrotum face is in charge..

Didn't see him tonight but he remains a player of stunning potential, I'm sorry to say. It's only his attitude that might cost him, but his ability is incredible.

My thoughts too.

Got sent an article trying to dissect Sterling from a City perspective and they were basically concluding that he's very valuable to them but only because he creates space for the likes of Silva... as an individual star he flatters to deceive. My mate who supports City thinks he's crap.

It's early days to be writing him off.

He's a very good young player who has half a chance of becoming world class. As far as I'm concerned someone like Martial at Utd is every bit as promising, so he's hardly this unique talent some people talk about. I think £50m was the highest realistic figure we could've hoped for, so I always felt happy to get £46-49m for him.

Whether that makes him overrated or underrated I'm really not sure.

No - we did well from it. As I have stated - he has two more years left in him before everyone will forget about him.

I still really like him as a player. I regret we couldn't keep him until Klopp's arrival.

HAHA! I had no idea either. How times change. So Sterling scored a tap in huh?! Good on him. - I'll still take the £49Mill and say fuck you to whatever bellend paid that for him!

Oh well @Red Astaire being a jinxy basterd.. He has only just gone an scored
Against Estonia! That's a photo for him to hang on his wall I'm sure. I've always thought he was an over rated little shit. Then again I thought that about about C Ronaldo. Goes to show how much I fucking know... Words to the wise. In regards to footy. Never listen to me. Movies, Cricket, Cooking and holidays and maybe writing a smidge and I'm the go to poster. Anything else and I'm fucking clueless. 😗

His decision making has always been terrible particularly when hes through on goal but he clearly got bags of talent. City overpaid by at least £15 - £20 million but they are gambling on him being world class at 23 or 24 which is possible. I'm still mystified as to why some people think Ibe is going to be better than Sterling, much as we all think hes a dopey little prick hes already a very good player. If he gets his head right and he settles in that team he could be brilliant.

Stunning Potential is a bit OTT Doc. We have been seeing this for the past 2 years, he has one real move (pace) and no other 'tricks' (a la e.g. Hazard) to get by his man and his finishing is still abysmal. He's not a natural in front of goal and that's not something you can teach, improve on perhaps but he'll never be a natural and score loads. He's going to be a good PL pro, somewhere long the lines of slightly improved Lennon, but I doubt he'll be at a Top 4 club 3-4 years from now.

With Ibe it's still all potential too. Don't forget Sterling was fast tracked and then benched for 6 months in the U21s before coming good. Ibe didn't have that benefit but looked very good on loan and on the pre-season tour too. He's confidence is currently shot to pieces though from being played as a WB which he clearly isn't.

He seems to have the natural attributes to better Sterling; he's faster, very good close control, physically much stronger (rarely it ever knocked off the ball) and has a very powerful shot (pity he hasn't actually scored more for LFC with it though). He does need to learn to dive though, Sterling has that on him.

I'd also add that due to be being played as a WB, not a Winger, we haven't yet seen him get in the same sort of attacking positions in and around the box that Sterling used to (for us) but which he did do at Derby.

He's valuable for them because he's English, and they don't have too many English players (Hart is the only other senior English player they have, right?)
