Isakly what we need (AKA Isak Hunt)

What does that "solidarity" thing mean? Also: yay!
It means Orsntein is trying to show he knows his shit but actually doesn’t understand how transfers work. Solidarity is only for deals between different FAs. It’s a rule that provides for 5% of the fee to be split between the clubs that trained players when they were young.
Or else it’s him trying to say something and not knowing what the right word is in English.

Just to add that although solidarity is NOT paid on deals between English clubs, we do have to pay what is called a “transfer levy” which is 4% of the fee. It’s paid to the FA to cover their costs, including player pension contributions. Assuming a £130m fee, you need to add £5.2m levy on top. It’ll also be payable on any fee we pay for Guehi.
Finally, on the cash-flow side of things, we also have to pay VAT on the full fee to Newcastle (not just on the 1/3 instalment payable now) which is another £26m we need to find, albeit we’ll be able to claim it back from HMRC when we file our next VAT return, so it’s just a cash-flow deficit for few months.

God. Ornstein has really soiled himself.
Firstly, solidarity isn’t due.
Secondly, it would be £6.5m, not £5m.
Thirdly, it would be for Newcastle to pay.
Fourthly, that means we’d pay £130m and they’d get £123.5m. The difference would got to Isak’s formative clubs.
But he thinks we’d pay £125m and they get £130m, with the difference being… magic beans?
And again, it just doesn’t apply.

To think a year ago I was having to watch Darwin struggle to control a ball for us. Ekitike and Isak in one window is more than I could have expected. Imo, the best striker on the market, and the best young striker on the market in one summer. Edwards and Hughes have absolutely cooked.

And a lot of this is thanks to Newcastle playing hard ball. We'd have given them Ekitike and probably signed a meh player as backup.

I think he hasn't to say we'd pay £125m AND NUFC will pay £5m to AIK, Dortmund and Sociedad.

"worth £130m to Newcastle" is just a charitable way of minimising the exploding heads on Tyneside.

But he’s still wrong. It doesn’t apply here.
And that’s not how it works. Buying club pays the fee, selling club pays on a share. Sometimes they agree a gross-up - so selling club says they want 100 and buying club pays 105 so the seller gets 100 after solidarity. But the buying club always pays more, and the seller gets less.
Look, it’s fine for Ornstein to not understand it, he just shouldn’t pretend he does.

The loyalty bonus will only be due if he’s still there tomorrow. We’ll end up funding that somehow. He ain’t giving up shit. They never do.

Excellent stuff. Marc Guehi now, and it'll be one of the best windows in a generation (on paper). These things are always different in practice (so many new players, takes a while to integrate)

So clever accounting from Newcastle. Removing the 5m liability from the books and banking 125 in cash and receivables.

So 130m

Whereas we are also using clever accounting by saying its 125m but not reported will the bonus which will form part of the contract.

I just listened to Momo's favourite podcast reaction show on the way in to work. They recorded it at 1am and, to be honest, it is embarrassing listening to them all slur their words.
Just finishing it. It's pretty bad. One of them is totally fucked.

Did hear Isak home debut is against Everton, so that could be good.
