Job security - arne

I can only imagine we're waiting until the summer when potentially Nagelsmann, Tuchel, et al might be available.

For that reason, I hope United jump as Glasner or whomever else before then so that we're not in the market at the same time as them.

Tuchel would win things, but he is too volatile as a person.
Too demanding, and no way hughes or edwards would dare to appoint someone who would fight them if he disagrees.

Few posts on social media from certain sources about clash between Hughes and Slot, looks like one trying to save each other's job. Mix of reasoning between handling of Rio and transfer policy etc.

How epic would it be if the subject surrounding a kid meant both these cunts lost their jobs.

I’d take one being lost.

It wouldn't be about the kid though.

If we don't get results, the result is always the same, a game of finger pointing. Who is the reason that we've spent a lot of money to get worse? Is it utilization of existing resources or stupid decisions with regard to who we bought?

The answer of course is yes, and also lack of planning over several years. We already fucked up with the midfield, we just got away with it. We fucked up at cb, and didn't get away with it.

Now we tried to do a lot all at once.

But, if I were wanting to make sure it wasn't my fault, even though it is, might be floating shit like this to the press about slot...

Or, it's bullshit

Cracks Behind the Scenes at Anfield 💣

🚨 Serious internal tension at Liverpool
• A heated summer dispute erupted between Arne Slot and the club’s hierarchy
• The clash was mainly with sporting director Richard Hughes, over transfer strategy and academy reliance
• Slot is reluctant to trust young talents like Rio Ngumoha
• The manager prefers ready-made signings, while the board are pushing hard to integrate academy players into the first team
A clear philosophical divide — and it’s far from quiet.

All this I can believe and it is all on Slot. Using the academy to flesh out the squad is one of the many wonderful things Klopp did. Unless you are part of a certain group of players then Slot will do whatever he can to not to give you minutes. Stick a right back at right back and a left winger at left winger. Don’t be lashing your best player this season in 3 different positions in a single half of a game.

I somehow can't believe that we didn't know about his personality before hiring him.

Every company with a half decent HR assesses candidates thouroughly. It seems we didn't.

I guess the narrative that Slot focuses on — and is good at — player development was formed largely because his hands were tied financially (i.e. he couldn’t spend much on established players), and also because of the overall quality of the league he was managing in, given the level of players at his disposal.

Morton summed it up pretty well.

"I think he [Slot] thought I was a good player, but I don't feel the trust was there as much," he continued. "In my opinion, the limited opportunities were down to trust and not ability.

It sounds mostly true but it's clearly also a hit piece by someone to lay blame on Slot.

The decision to keep Rio here was made in the summer and Slot didn't get his way, so why bring it up now? The only new incident is Slot not attending the academy showcase, which could have happened for a number of reasons.

I'm firmly in the Slot out camp but this piece seems more like shit stirring than honest journalism

He’ll be gone before we lose any talents
I dunno, I can see the damage being done and us losing Abe

We might salvage a few others, but I think he's gone. The mismanagement of Rio will show young players that they've got no hope. Klopp wasn't great at times but at the very least he wasn't terrified of playing young players.

When slot wheels out a kid it feels like he's paying the spreadsheet squad lip service.

Seems like Media narrative being driven ny someone above. How can they allow Slot to sign ready made players without higher approval? Total idiots in charge it seems.

At this stage i'd happily see us just promote the U21 coach, and have someone who knows the club & facilities & staff etc come in, help coach some sort of system, bump up a few of the U21s as the squad is bare and take us safely to the summer.

Abe is represented by Trent’s brother. That’s a lost cause regardless of Slot.

Morton was loaned out twice under Klopp as well. One season we had Melo instead.

Jurgen Klopp was the best coach for my development. I think at that moment, I was ready to play. I'm not saying that no one believed it, but I think I was ready, and Klopp thought so too. He gave me the opportunity to play on the biggest stage for a very big club. He believed in me, allowed me to go out on loan to develop.

Jurgen just wanted the best for me, he made me play great matches in the Champions League and the Premier League. It was a remarkable period, he made me progress at all levels.”

Klopp gave him his debut in the Champions League away at San Siro. He was only 19 then and it was a move to Blackburn on the back of Elliott's successful loan spell the previous season. That loan spell and the following season's loan at Hull helped fetch the ~ €15m transfer fee, not the 263 mins he played under Slot.

I think the issue is we've provided ready made talents, but he needs to use youth to fill the squad out

He doesn't trust a few players of the senior team (endo, chiesa), he doesn't trust youth team (sold Elliott, Rio, ramsay and nyoni left to rot).

He's mismanaged his squad because he's a prick.

Both our U21 and U18 head coaches only joined us this season though...

I think there's always avenues to keep players even with dodgy agents. Maybe not when he's a fully developed established player, but for kids? If the opportunities are there a lot of them will prefer that.
