I would love to say sell him, but no one is stupid enough to buy him outside Man U (and they won't due to a unwritten embargo). Eric Garcia of barcelona is the last year of his contract. With Barcelona forced to sell to make room for Rashford could be one solution. He can also play CDM, so selling Endo could fund the transfer

As I said we would have to sell Endo to make it happen. The problem with English players is that they're not cheap. Of the HG options that are likely to be cheap are Adam Webster and John Stones. This is for 4th choice

If we are going to Isak and Guehi how do we afford another CB? Jo Go is like an old italian classic lovely to look at, but lucky if it will starts and if it does start it will breakdown within 2 miles of driving. @Frogfish warned me that we need 2 CBs, I thought Jo would survive till Jan, and he is right we need to CBs. Eric Garcia can play CB, RB and CDM. Robbo as 4th choice CB is the wrong choice and Badge is chronically more injury prone than Jo Go

Whether we will get someone like Cresswell in depends on Tsimikas. I suspect it won't be easy to shift him so we will probably make do with permacrocked Joego or Endo.

Had a good season in Klopp's last seeing as he was actually available to cover about at fullback but in the last 4-5 years he's become a bit of a deadweight in the squad and I still wouldn't trust him in a run of games at CB.

Sign a good up and coming u21 player that doesn't need to be registered if we're maxed out on non-HG and go for Guehi in Jan for a cut price.

No one's buying Gomez unless they're stupid. Will he be available for games we need him for? There's hope Konate will sign a new contract. Going into the new season with Guehi, Konate and VVD, is that enough knowing Konate can breakdown?

Yeah, ok I take your point but the 4th choice CB isn’t going to play much outside of domestic cups or in case of an injury.

I get that Gomez spends loads of time injured, but that’s also loads of time not complaining about not getting a game.

One good CB, eg Guehi should be enough to cover and he’s good enough to rotate if Slot wants to do that more this season.

Again, if we sign an overseas player we have to move 2 overseas players from the squad to accommodate - the obvious candidates are Endo, Tsimikas, Darwin, Diaz or Chiesa - Tsimikas works because we already have 2 LBs, but none of the others are defenders, so shifting one of them means we could create a covering issue somewhere else and a lot of those other players are actually useful squadies that can cover multiple positions.

There aren’t many viable home grown options.

So… I’m all for 1 CB - absolutely necessary, but 2 isn’t as essential for me.

Also - I absolutely do not agree with a Klavan/Coates type - that’s a compromise on quality that we don’t need to make. Klavan was good for a team struggling to get into the CL, but a player like that, for me, has no place in a team wanting to win the league or CL. Coates was a waste of space of the type we don’t need to repeat.

Guehi is ideal and if we have to get a second CB, then it would ideally be a younger player.

Gomez is fucking pointless even as a 4th choice. He will hardly play not because he’s 4th choice but because he’s fucking injured 98% of the time.

Get in Guehi and a workhorse to step in for a year or two for their last chance at winning anything.

Arguably not, but at the very least it helps future proof goals for when Salah drops off/leaves, as well as the obvious Nunez/Diaz/chiesa departure. Guehi future proofs of Konate goes or to replace Virgil. What other CB could come in that's appropriate? Just get some youth CB that has a high ceiling and pray.

What’s the point in Ekitike then? Unless we are planning for a massive shift in formation in 26/27 it makes no sense.

We’re gonna get goals, lots of goals with this squad.

I’d be more comfortable with the two CBs, DM slot will trust and maybe Salah’s replacement. £130 million is a lot of money and could stretch that far.
