Konate

Was reported that Virgil signed with the same wage set up that he’s currently on.

Trent was getting £200k a week. Salah has seen a £25k a week increase (£375k to £400k). VVD has doubled his wages (£200k to £400k). Thats Trent's wages gone. Trent was offered £150k increase, give £120k to Konate which gets him his £200k.
Besides we have Adidas deal, and winning the PL will allow the club to generates millions more from sponsors. No doubt non-season ticket holders will pay an increase is ticket prices

Plus what 100M from the CL?

If this happens what a colossal mess up by Klopp and co before they left. If he doesn’t sign this summer he’s gone next summer for free. I fecking do not like Madrid

How is it Klopp’s fault?
when Klopp choose to leave, it was 2.5yrs. It’s all on the renewal team and we know how fast they work.

If he doesn't sign, you sell him in the summer. Don't fall for the same mistake. Ultimately its FSG fault for not being stricter on contract renewals

Virg doubled his money? Wow.

These footballers, they kept saying they love the club and all that, but they still need to be paid and be paid very well at the end of the day I guess.

I don’t think his base pay changed much, we just have shit loads more incentives which could reach £400k/week.

Think the club should really start going down the route of 6-7 year inventivized contracts.

If Konate doesn't resign a contract who would be his replacement?
His French national team mate at Bayern?
I hoping he does resign

Good. I think Konate stays but he just wants a wage that represents his value to the team.
He's still only 25 years old, which is still young for a CB. He can give us 3-4 more years and still go to PSG or whatever.

I read "by the end of summer" to mean that it'll be done or he'll be shipped out by the end of the window. It's the right approach and it shows they're prioritising things because it's going to be a busy summer and it would be quite easy to put this on the back-burner.

A take it or you’ll be forced to leave kind of offer.

Yeah, and if it's just about money then I don't think they'll sweat getting it done before the window closes (as with Mo and Virgil, there was always going to be a breakthrough on numbers), but if they get the feeling he's going to run down his contract then they'll do all they can to push him out of the door. But it's worth remembering that if he wants to do that, there's ultimately nothing we can do - we can't force him to sign for someone who'll pay decent money for him if he doesn't want to, and he'll no we're not going to drop him to the reserves / youth team, even if we threaten to do so.

If it drags till the last week of summer, would that leave enough time to find a replacement or you keep him and let him go on a free? Its believed Trent did the same

Sign his replacement and send him to the reserves. World Cup year. He would go.

I think the second they get a feeling that he's going to run down his contract they'll instruct an agent to find a buyer, and that will probably be well before the end of the window, if it happens. As I said above, if they get the feel, as with Mo and Virgil, that it's just about getting to a compromise on money then they won't do that.
