Konate

As are all the best CBs? You don't get to the top of the food chain if you're lacking in 1 of those departments.

Guehi is well protected at Palace and doesn't have to cover anywhere near as much space in his defensive third as someone like Ibou has. Wait till he steps into our shit show and he's hesitating whether having to be dragged wide or into midfield because we're so disorganised, it's going to be a shock to his system.

Were Hyypia and Terry known for being quick and agile?
If you go further back, Tony Adams, Keown?
Was Carra quick and strong?

How about Matip?

I think the best CB's are the ones who can read the game well.

I don't think Terry was a slouch at his peak, but you're right, the best CB's are the ones who read the game well. Matip wasn't quick, but he was a big fucker with a huge stride and he was quite agile and technically very good. I think the lads who fall into that bracket tend to be quite intelligent players across the board, with and without the ball. Carragher was the one who mopped up around that type, he was a lot less elegant but effective all the same, much like Henchoz was before him. Back then that was the typical partnership. Now though, I think top class defenders need to be a bit more rounded.

Apart from Matip in your list, I’m pretty sure all those defenders played 15 yards or more further back than what we or other high pressing teams play these days. I absolutely loved Hyypia but I’m not sure he’d have done too well in a Klopp or Slot team.

Definitely, football has changed. Just making the point that CB's don't have to be super quick or super agile.
If you want another modern day example look at Bastoni or Dan Burn.

Disappointed in Konate. Expect some loyalty to the club. Another one to put on the "Feck off" list.
I'm disappointed, but I'm not as bothered about it like I was about Trent.
It's his big payday.
He's currently on £70k p/w. We're probably offering to double it.
Rudiger is making £280k at Real.

No wonder Konate wants to move.

is this figure true or is it like when we found out diaz is actually well paid?

Why expect loyalty? We bought him. not like he's been here since he was 8.

We all have different expectations. The club have treated him well. Given him the best years of his career. Don't be a maggot and take advantage of the confusion during the Slot - Klopp transition. Let the club get you a fee. No doubt Trent is coaching him along as well. FECK OFF.

From Joyce's article

However, Konaté’s future remains uncertain. The France defender has entered the final year of his own deal and long-standing attempts to persuade him to sign a new contract remain at an impasse.

Real Madrid have been identified as potential suitors next summer and, while Liverpool do not want to lose the player, they will not beg anyone to remain at Anfield.
Konate joking on French TV

During an interview with French TV channel TF1, Konate jokingly claimed that France captain Mbappe is putting pressure on him to switch to Madrid next year. The Reds defender said: "He calls me every two hours! No, no, no."

He is definitely off.
Konate is knob and got shite taste in cartoons.

We have Konate for this season, I am only thinking about this season. We've had 7 seven signings that could see us winning the double. If Konate goes after helping us win a double, and is honest about it, I will wish him luck.

Real also looking at Upamecano who is also in the final year of his contract.

Konate on some talk show joking that Mbappe calls him every 2 hours to come to Madrid.

He’s definitely off.
Even Trent or Courinho, didn’t go that far. For such a likeable lad it seems around the dressing room, was a bit embaressing. A bit like his defending at times. He won’t be the same player with Virgil around, Virgil is 10x every partner whom plays with him.

Well we've been making a joke out of a number of players' contracts so it's only fitting really that one of the players reacts in kind.

We’re dickheads looking in from the outside who would put aside anything he’s done for someone like Ekitike in trying to integrate into a foreign country/team. We’ve all seen it online in clips but it means fuck all if it doesn’t suit our narrative.
