The exclusive, otherwise undocumented, and quite possibly fictitious excerpt from Sotiris Kyrgiakos' LFC TV interview…

Reporter: How does it feel to be playing in the Premier League?
Sotiris Kyrgiakos: I have high hopes, though I will miss the trips to the xorafia. Then again, I'm told Portsmouth can be awful.

R: Was it Basinas or Gekas who told you that?
SK: I've said too much.

R: What intrigues you the most about English football?
SK: I've always been a fan of not having to worry about whether I'll get paid my wages.

R (puzzled): I see…
SK: Plus, the wages here are fantastic. Also, I'm pretty sure I have a clause in my contract that provides a bonus every time I take a Manchester United player out. No one said anything, but a guy held up their team photo, raised his fist in a punching motion, and gave me a wink.

R: Moving along, is there any particular stadium you cannot wait to visit?
SK: Newcastle, definitely. They've got a historic ground, and their fans are incredible.
(Inaudible whispers.)
SK: Really? Since when?

R: Are you eager to play alongside Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres - world-class athletes?
SK: Yes, but then again, I've already played with world-class footballers - so many I cannot even remember their names. I hear Gerrard can really throw a punch, though.

R: There will be a lot of competition at centre half, with Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, and yourself.
SK: Yes, indeed. Incidentally, what's with Skrtel's name? People here complain that mine is difficult to pronounce; his has one vowel!

R: Biggest disappointment since having come to England?
SK: I was really hoping Cristiano Ronaldo would still be here; that dude spends more time on the ground than Diogo. I would have liked to knock him around a bit.

R: Have you spoken at length to the manager, and if so, what have you discussed?
SK: No, we haven't really spoken that much. He expressed to me his concern about "the whole Greek plate thing." He said he was annoyed that people would be so wasteful. I assured him it wasn't commonplace, and that most plate-breaking can be attributed to that guy from "Stin ?geia Mas."

R: I see…you didn't discuss anything else?
SK: He asked me if pastourmas was Greek for "bastard."
R: And?
SK: You're kidding me, right?

R: What's been the biggest difference between Greece and England so far?
SK: Probably the language.

R: Have you learned any?
SK: Not really - a bunch of the lads keep saying that things are "mint." I thought that was a flavor of ice cream.

R (jokingly): You chose 16 as your squad number. The number of bookings you'll get, I presume?
SK (with an icy stare): Why set the bar so low?

Why would anybody be "unsure" as to whether it's bollocks or not?

Have you read it? Definitely very different to usual 'welcome to the club' interviews..

Sorry to dig up an old thread, just wanted to post this on an existing one instead.

STOKE CITY boss Tony Pulis will renew his bid to sign Liverpool’s Sotirios Kyrgiakos for next season.

The Greek defender was close to joining the Potters before the transfer window shut but Liverpool pulled the plug at the last minute.

However, Kyrgiakos, 31, could be on his way to Stoke in the summer when Pulis plans to shake up his back line, with former skipper Abdoulaye Faye on his way out.

Former Bolton and Newcastle man-mountain Faye, 32, had talks with CELTIC on deadline day but that deal fell through when Kyrgiakos could not be signed in time.

The Greece international, a £2million buy from AEK Athens in August 2009, has done well for Liverpool when called on, but if Kenny Dalglish stays in charge at Anfield he is likely to sign a centre-half.

That will make Kyrgiakos available and Stoke’s interest will allow him to stay in the Premier League
next season.

I thought he will be available on a free transfer in the summer?

I'm slowly warming to the idea of getting a new centre-back. Mainly because it just dawned on me that Carra will be 34 next season. I guess we will have to start viewing Carra as a squad player as opposed to being the starting Centre-Back, and we don't have two nailed on starters in the remaining group of (Agger, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Kelly and Wilson).

R: Are you eager to play alongside Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres - world-class athletes?

SK: Yes, but then again, I've already played with world-class footballers - so many I cannot even remember their names. I hear Gerrard can really throw a punch, though.

HAHAHA

'Mint' is not a word Scousers use. Apart from when asking for Softmints in a shops or similar.

There should be a thread started for statements like that....call it.....'things what lucas would tweet'

Sorry to dig up an old thread. Am just wondering if I missed anything - has Kyrgiakos signed any form of contract extension? He joined us in 2009 on a 2 yr contract. Doesn't that means its expired this July?

Didn't he have a one year extension clause in his contract?

Doesn't matter though, he'll be released.

Yeah, it's apparently "a two year deal with the option of a further year". Haven't seen any confirmation of it being offered/taken up though.

That was well a fake interview. I know this because people in Liverpool do not say "Mint". Unless they're asking for mint ice cream or referring to somebody affluent being "minted". The word "Mint" as in "rather good" is a Mancunian thing. I fucking hate it. And "lush" that the Welsh use - that just irritates me.

Ooh it's mint/lush isn't it ?

Fuck off
