You’d think we’d play hardball on this one. Good.
He has 3 options, its his choice. If barca and al-hilal make an offer or stay. Also to put Diaz's goals into perspective, he was joint 12th top scorer in the league.
Same amount of goals as Jarrod Bowe. More than players like Semenyo, Brennan Johnson, Nicolas Jackson.
One fewer than Mateta. Two fewer than Cunha.

Gakpo had the same G/A as Diaz over the season but with 700 mins less played.
I like Diaz, but its the right time to sell. IF the price is right.
But then we are left very light. One injury to Gakpo and we're down to Jota (if he doesn't leave) or Rio from the academy.
I've never quite understood some of the stick / lack of support Diaz gets from some posters on here.
Yes, a bit more end product would be nice. But the lad works his nuts off, isn't afraid to take on opponents and when he does score it's often a break-through goal rather than a stat-padding 5th in a 5-0 win. He's also a player who adds a bit of excitement to the game - I love watching him.
If there's an opportunity to upgrade or if he's not going to sign a new deal and we risk losing him on a free then I'm OK with selling, but I'd much rather give him a new deal and stick with what we've got. In those games where Mo is anonymous, he's our outlet. I like Gakpo, but he drifts in and out of the game, Diaz is always offering an outlet.
And as an aside, a mate of mine went to a function at Kirkby when Diaz was out with that long-term injury, and they had a tour of the facilities, including the players' gym. Diaz was there and was absolutely killing himself on the treadmill trying to get fit to return to the team. You can't teach that kind of motivation and attitude. You want to motivate Diaz for a game you select him in the starting XI. That's all you need to do, he's already up for it and desperate to get out there.
They’ll pay on the never never like coutinho.Assume Barca gave a Loan with an option to buy offer.
Even if he's on low wages just letting him go for nothing would surely make his final two years exorbitantly expensive, right? Missing out on a fee would equate to like £30m a year.
Does anyone think if we force him to stay that he will down tools in terms of his performances and effort ? - I don't think he will perform, and as he is quite good at carrying the ball and losing it on the occasion he has great cover to fuck it up and none of us would be any wiser - we would be like "....ah look he tried the fun dribbling shit and unfortunately lost it.. but great try Lucho...we love a trier"

We won't get a fee from that bunch of chisellers though. He's a useful member of the squad and we'd still be paying the bulk of his wages, so in the circs.I'd have thought the best value we can get from him is to keep him and his contribution handy for the period involved.
Yeah - but @Judge Jules - I am not sure in this case - if he is being paid based on what the rumours are, then it is appalling given the premiums paid to wingers - he is one of the worlds best in those positions regardless of how much we rate him, others in South America / Spain rate him higher in my view plus his versatility. If say we sell both Nunez and Jota - then we can replace just Nunez with another striker and Diaz can be used to sub Cody plus also used centrally where he has had his best games this season. He puts a shift in every single time he plays for us so no, I don't think he's the kind of player or the kind of professional to down tools. As for the rest of that rubbish above:
Is it really true that Barcelona just don't pay for their transfers? Like, aren't there contracts involved?
Maybe there were some problems collecting the Coutinho debt in some respects, but the idea that they just never pay at all seems pretty fanciful.
