Whats the point in him doing this? Nobody has shown an interest in buying us at a price that would offer him a profit, so why would they suddenly do so in 6/12 months time with yet more debt building up?

I doubt he genuinely entertains any such hopes now, mate. My guess is that, if he does hang on (please God, don't let this happen), he's betting the bank on the upcoming TV deal.
Whats the score with this new tv deal mate? Has it all been confirmed or is it just specualtion?
Don't think it's speculation. As I understand it, TV rights will revert to the clubs in 2/3 years' time and they will then be able to sell them to whoever they want, which is where the real money could be made. If Hicks DOES cling on, our one hope is that he'll finally understand that we'll not be able to charge as much if we're not successful meanwhile.

I don't think Gillett is involved. It's Hicks and A.N. Other.

Anyone got any links to the Hicks latest?

I've been looking. Not found anything yet.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Aren't they all obliged to vote though?

So it must be 3 to 2?

Thanks JJ (i'd not heard about this).

If he has refinanced though you can expect that the interest rates will be fu*king crazy, with our debts rising even quicker. I can't see much chance of us being able to improve things on the pitch at all if this is the case mate.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

The only way we could do it is if the fat git himself actually provided the money for it out of any refinancing he'd managed to obtain.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

If its common knowledge he's refinanced, wouldn't it be in the public domain by now?

Not really. Plenty of info is out there before it's made officially public. I just hope in this case it is nothing but rumour.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

His 10 bucks a pop share thing starts on Tuesday, with the 'This is a high risk investment' disclaimer, not even thick rednecks would buy one surely?

I have every extremity I possess crossed in the vain hope thats the case. If it's true we have to face up to a seriously bleak future.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

So the 'club up for sale' was just stalling for time. Basically with refinance the club won't be sold until 2012 at the earliest.

If he's refinanced will he give us the 'Spade in the ground in 90 days' speech again? and show us a pretty picture of heaven?

Re: Club Refinance Thread

yeah its common knowledge that one asked the other to buy him out, but I bet my life he didn't get 300-400 million for his half share.

I don't know which ones G and which ones H, I just hate the fucking pair of them.

There like an evil version of Ant and Dec!

Re: Club Refinance Thread

By Sunday Express Reporter

LIVERPOOL Football Club’s American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett will default on the £237 million-plus of loans they used to buy the club, former government business adviser Lord Sugar predicts.

The deadline for Hicks and Gillett to refinance the £237.4 million Royal Bank of Scotland loan they used to acquire Liverpool expires on October 15. The duo also owe £60 million to the US bank Wachovia.

Hicks and Gillett are understood to be struggling to refinance their loans. If they fail to do so RBS will take control of the club and is prepared to force through a fire-sale of the club.

Former Tottenham Hotspur owner Lord Sugar believes Hicks and Gillett will not be able to refinance their loans, which are secured against the club which is struggling both on and off the pitch.

“What a great institution Liverpool is, what a great football club, but my forecast is that the owners will default on their loans,†Lord Sugar told ESPNsoccernet.

Lord Sugar also warned that unless Liverpool’s finances are sorted out quickly it could suffer the same fate as Leeds, which wound up in football’s third tier due to its unsustainable debts.

“It would be a travesty if Liverpool slipped away like Leeds and ended up in the second division,†he said. “That will happen if they are not careful.â€

Hicks and Gillett were unavailable for comment.

And who's that you're referring to ?

Re: Club Refinance Thread

I think the coments from Sugar are at least three or four days old.
I read that article this morning and it only seemed to be reporting what was perceived to be the informed opinion on what is going on with our club.

Didn't mark mc also predict some shitbag signing (can't remember who) as being done when Roy first took over? He's had plenty of crappy calls.
