What fucking deadline? Theyve been retreating on demands for nearly 3 years! The one fucking thing to come out of all this is that i intend to bank with RBS.
'Oh ho ho if you dont pay us back by this friday.......*wags finger nodding head*.......well then .......we'll give you some more time'

Erm, what you've described is how every credit card company functions... they'll allow you to dig a hole but eventually they want their money after they've encouraged you to saddle your dumb self with crippling debt.
I dont have any credit cards.

So to sum up-
The Yanks have secured refinancing but Purslow, Broughton and Ayres have blocked them using the club as equity.

Broughton, Purslow and Ayres have secured two substantial bids for the club but are being blocked by the yanks as they will only break even and not make profit.

The yanks are trying to remove purslow and ayres from the board but Broughton has stopped them forcing legal action to try and force them out.

RBS are still fucking dithering.

Nothing has fucking changed.

We're still shite.
Thanks, that saved me half an hour.

So, are we going to lose 9 points a week on Friday? Sounds like it.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Really, I have to have a credit card simply to build a credit history, but more power to you, I've successfully avoided ever having any credit card debt.

The point is, there is a deadline, it's the exact point RBS decide it's not worth the risk anymore, and everything is pointing to this being the end, including this really open warfare.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Here is the Yanks' statement for anyone who can't get Sky Sports News:-

"In April, we confirmed our agreement to sell Liverpool, and appointed a new Chairman and advisers to oversee the process.

At that time we and Martin Broughton stated our commitment to finding the right buyer for LFC, one that could support and sustain
the Club in the future.

We remain committed to that goal.

The owners have invested more than $270 million in cash into the club, and during their tenure revenues have nearly doubled investment in players has increased and the Club is one of the most profitable in the EPL.

As such, the Board has been presented with offers that we believe dramatically undervalue the Club.

To be clear, there is no change in our commitment to finding a buyer for Liverpool Football Club at a fair price that reflects the very significant investment we've made...

We will however resist any attempt to sell the Club without due process or agreement by the owners."

lies, lies, lies

The official website is refusing to post Hicks and Gillett's 'statement'. Open warfare.

Yeh apart from the recent RBS 'statement' on Radio 4 saying they'll put us into administration next Friday if the club isn't sold. Hicks isn't going to get refinance unless it's secured against club assets - which the board won't allow. And Hicks and Gillet cant remove Ayres and Purslow while they owe RBS money. I'm hoping theyr'e essentially fucked.
Thanks Sunny, this is spot on. It all depends on RBS I guess. But who has H and G got refinancing with?

I think the nuclear option has to be the players have to refuse to play, and the supporters have to refuse to attend, as long as they're in charge of the club. That has to force the hand.

Surely the fact that there is two buyers has to mean RBS can possess club and sell it on to get money back?

But if RBS re-possess club, surely H and G lose everything. But they get their initial investment back with a buyer? So why pick repossession? Are they pushing for a small profit perhaps?

And surely as long as they owe RBS money, they can't remove the lads from the board? But as Sunny said, as long as they are on the board they can't refinance? I'd love a legal poll on this one - Jesus, this really is palace intrique.

PS: a lot of people owe Purslow an apology tonight.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

We should talk more about the Singapore girl since it seems to have brought to us some good news.

I really don't understand what H&G are thinking, they've got everything to lose. I can understand why they're blocking the sales (they're businessmen after all) but bloody hell, they sure are thick.

Hopefully everything can be settled before the derby.

To label them thick is wrong they simply have a team of advisors who are trying to get them the most money possible.

But ultimately it's up to them to make a decision? And given their number of years doing business, surely they should have a good feel of things?

Re: Club Refinance Thread

From the FT - more info

According to people with knowledge of the protracted and bitter sale process, the independent directors had planned to discuss the offers with the owners on a conference call, and hoped to move the discussion onto details about which of the two to accept.

It is understood the meeting began with the US owners stating they intended to oust the independent directors and change the board’s constitution. Mr Broughton adjourned the meeting to take advice and returned to tell them that they could not impose the moves.

But the owners, who have placed a much higher valuation on the club, were said to have told the board that they were not interested in the offers on the table, a response that was said by one person to have been expected. They then withdrew from the meeting.

The owners later released a statement saying they had been presented with offers that “dramatically undervalue the club†and did not reflect the investment they had made in Liverpool, which they put at more than $270m. They said they remained committed to the sale of the club, but added: “We will, however, resist any attempt to sell the club without due process or agreement by the owners.â€

Mr Hicks is believed to remain determined to refinance the debt, although he has had one proposal rejected by the independent board members in June after they took legal advice. The deadline for the repayment of the owners’ loan is Friday week.

According to another person with knowledge of the situation, NESV’s owner John Henry is in the UK with senior management figures with the intention of “closing the dealâ€.

While NESV has been interested in Liverpool for some weeks, the Far East interest is believed to have become known only in the past week. NESV’s thinking is that Liverpool would be another iconic sports brand to go with the Boston Red Sox and Roush Fenway Racing, one of the pre-eminent teams in Nascar racing.

But given the hostility of Liverpool fans to the Gillett-Hicks ownership, NESV is believed to be sensitive to any anti-US sentiment from supporters.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

It's on Twitter as well. Liverpool sold to NESV and details likely to be on the official soon.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

I am proud of the fight the non-owners boardmembers have put in.

The screaming and jumping and legal battle from Fat Tom is actually not scaring me. I suspect that would happen. I said a couple of weeks ago that if they were allowed to bring in their own boardmembers they would have done so by now, so they must have agreed some very hefty compromises for RBS to agree refinancing last time around. The legal call from Hicks seem more like a case were he tells the lawyer how the law should be interpreted rather than the lawyer advising him. He is desperate to raise the moneybar here, but I assume he will eventually loose the grip. It seems like Gillett allready did, and dont be surprised if he will join the rest of the board against hicks. If he can rescue his outlay I guess he will try to do that.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

John Henry is not rich enough to own Liverpool though. I hope NESV has more powerful backers, otherwise it will be same thing all over again....
