Wow, I missed all this last night, so just got up to an immense news day. A few thoughts:

1. Pursslow and Broughton are the heroes of the day. So not Satan incarnate after all. How puzzling...

2. The Yanks are (almost) dead, long live the Yanks. But it's really not a question of nationality. We are getting rid of our old toxic, debt-plagued owners and starting over. Of course, I felt the same about getting rid of Rafa and replacing him with Roy, and that hasn't worked out so well, but... Fuck it, I'm cautiously optimistic anyway.

3. I think it's a good sign that Rosco's in favour of this lot. I really don't understand economics or finance or LBOs or any of that shit at all, so I'm just going to put all my blind faith in some Irish lawyer who happens to post on the same football forum as me. And if it all goes wrong, I'll blame him.

4. Something had to change. And something has changed. That's good news, whatever comes afterwards...
[/quote]

This is the route I'm taking also.

We could do with filling our existing stadium first.

And could people stop using the phrase 'yankee' about him please 😉

It's way too soon to judge Roy. Especially in this situation. There are very few players who can perform at their best in such atmosphere of uncertainty. There is no magical tactical formation that's going to solve that. We humans always analyze and judge, that's just our nature. But sometimes we have to say to our brain: STOP! There is nothing to analyze here and there no basis for making any sound judgments. Just have to wait until the ownership issue settles down.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Oh, by the way, this is no longer about refinancing. It doesn't necessarily need a new thread (I assume we're going RAWKish on this and trying to get a new record for thread with highest number of pages?) but it does need a new title. How about 'LFC ownership thread'?

Re: Club Refinance Thread

FFF: NESV owns the Red Sox, hated rivals of the NY Yankees. 😉

At least I think thats what SG meant.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

My guess, if this deal goes through, is that these guys will fund stuff for a couple of years and take the risk on the overhead and try to do something with individual TV rights at the next round of talks. Not really arsed. Sack woy and give us some dosh please.

I'm glad I got banned off RAWK for backing Purlsow anyways.

Very likely....but it doesn't seem like they have a history of taking a punt on assets that could appreciate in the short term and selling it. Which is a nice contrast to H&G, but they might be just getting started.

Anyway...if it gets rid of the debt, and give us one or two good transfer windows hopefully we will be able to swim on our own..

Re: Club Refinance Thread

But ESPNsoccernet has also been told that the legal battle could be long and messy."Who knows how long that could take, it could take a long time," a Liverpool source revealed.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

All of our problems in the past 3 years are caused by fatness. Hicks, Benitez, Insua, Gilette, Hodgson, Johnson etc ALL fat and slovenly. Im convinced that if we start to address that, positive things will happen. Slim owner who looks smart is a good start. Now for the manager...

Re: Club Refinance Thread

So, let me get this straight. It looks like we can actually get rid of the yanks, cancer and fucking tumour brothers. Which has looked next to impossible, and it also looked like we were going into the abyss of darkness with our precious club on the brink of going bust.

And then some of you have the nerve to actually be negative, because of Henry's personal wealth?? You do realize that it is a group thats buying us? It's not him alone. And the red sox have the highest wage budget in baseball and are very profitbale.

The reason we have bought players at Tesco and not Harrods, is our crippling debt. Once you remove that, we actually have a bit of money to spend. And I have every faith in Pursolw, Ayre and Broughton who deserve so much credit if this actually goes through. They have stated all along that the sale would be to the right buyer. So the business plan NESV has presented, must be interms with what the board expects.

Short term, removing the debt and investing in the squad.
Long term, speding what we earn.

Thats in sync with what FIFA will demand in the future. Manchester City have a higher wage expence then what the club earns per year. Thats insane. We don't want to go down that road.

We need financial stability, not a sheik or a Russian playboy. There aren't many of those in the world anyway who will spend trillions of pounds.

Have some faith FFS.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

I don't think the personal wealth of the individual is the be all and end all, it's how they run the club. the guy doesn't have to be a billionaire he just has to be willing not to load the club up with debt and have the assests to start the stadium, the rest we can, AND SHOULD do ourselves.

time to stop wishing for a rich sugar daddy, city and chelsea lucked out, if we want glory we have to drag ourselves there through turnover, profits and the stadium.

Hahahaha! Hilarious.

As for Broughton and Pursslow being heroes of the day, fucking wake up.

Broughton's getting a massive pay-out for selling the club, and Pursslow was desperate for anyone to buy it, because G&H were going to fire him. So they're both quids in and Purssslow stays in charge of his train set.

And they've sold us to the FIRST buyers who could scarpe up the cash required - ie more hedge-fund Yanks with not enough money - so all we're going to get is an increase in ticket-prices and the usual pittance to spend in the transfer market. No more big wages, no more big transfer fees, years of mediocrity to come.

The only positive is that Budgie will probably get sacked after a season at best.

This is the worst "good" news EVER.

To be fair, H&G has started the ball rolling i that regard with the increased commercial activity. Our record shirt sponsorship hopefully now can actually mean something in terms of driving the club forward.
