Liverpool bid £16mil for Alberto Moreno

Same here, its a shrug of the shoulders either way.

Get Ashley Cole in and then drop kick Glen Johnson out of the club and spend the Moreno money on a right back, that guarantees to improve our full back positions, buying Moreno and keeping Johnson guarantees nothing.

Moreno might turn out to be a beast but no-one can be really sure of that right now and Johnson has turned into a shambles of a player, even without buying a right back - Flanno/Cole looks so much more reliable than Moreno/Johnson.

Suppose it comes down to preference of being better in defence or attack?

i think most successful modern day fullbacks must be effective offensively, this may mean giving a little on defence, but to be top class you need to add something to the final 3rd, especially Brendan's style of play. in this regard this lad is promising, but still a gamble.

[article=http://elcorreoweb.es/2014/06/13/frenazo-a-la-venta-de-alberto/]According to Andalusian newspaper, El Correo, Sevilla and Liverpool were deep in negotiations over the sale of Moreno, with Liverpool offering €20 million and Suso on a one-year loan, but Sevilla isn’t interested in the fiery youngster and is only interested in a straight cash transfer.

Due to Sevilla’s stance, Liverpool have backed off to the point that there has been no communication for almost a week.

Sources close to Moreno admit that while the player would like to sort his future sooner rather than later, he isn’t concerned, as he still has a multi-year contract with his boyhood club Sevilla and would have no bearing on his performance under Unai Emery next season, ensuring that the 21-year-old is perfectly content on staying in Andalusia and won’t pressure the club.

As things stand now, Moreno and Liverpool have agreed to terms on a five-year deal that would pay him well beyond his current wages, but it is looking more and more likely that Alberto Moreno will not be playing at Anfield next season.[/article]

I hope so. £20m for a full back who's biggest weakness is tackling is a joke.

Not exactly devastated if thats true, last thing we need is to over pay on a rookie who, at least at the minute, won't be a significant improvement defensively. The stories throughout the thread contradict themselves, one minute they are laughing at our over valuation, the next, they want more money.

I think moving on if we have other targets who we rate as highly is smart. If we're moving on and he's really our '#1 LB choice,' then it worries me on the financial aspect, and the scouting aspect (because he just doesn't look that good)

There are some rumours floating round that we'll switch our attention to Daley Blind. That's probably bollocks, but there you go.

EDIT: Dave Maddock says we've switched our attention to Marcos Rojo. The Daily Mail says we're going for Ricardo Rodriguez. The Dutch Telegraf says we're going for Daley Blind.

I'd much rather have Rodriguez

yes he is good, he looked even better than when he played for Wolfsburg, less established than Moreno but i will have no Problem if we go with him instead of Moreno. He also has 3 years more left to his contract, i guess and also Wolfsburg are competing for that fourth place in BL. They narrowly missed this time with Leverkusen by only 1 Point. So it wont be so easy to get him, they are always looking to strengthen their Team, we might have to overpay for him

If we are throwing money about I would want to go for Clichy although would be hard to say what his cost would be with City unlikely to sell to rivals.

Given the player choices and the transfer fees mooted I'd be inclined to stick with what we've got at LB. I see no discernible gain or loss. Give me someone decent for a realistic fee.

Aye, that be true. Too much for other teams' youngsters.

The priority should be getting decent competition for Enrique. That's why want someone young, so that he won't mind not playing every game if Enrique suddenly starts performing as well as he has in the past.
Don't think Rodgers has any intention of selling him

That Rojo looked a cracking player for the Argies. Wouldn't mind him. Blind also had a stormer.

Going off my vast "having watched them all only once" experience, Moreno would be last on the list

That Mexican keeper.
Cloggy said he's available for nowt.
Sign the mad bastard up.

That Rojo looked good, very fast. Blind I've had my eye on for a while (pun intended) and he looks a very good player. Better in midfield, though.

I'd take Rojo, to be honest.

The staying at Sevilla comments means fuck all. Borini and Coutinho said the same. The presidents comments also means very little. This will be done early this week. No doubt imho.

Looks like your twitter buddies were miles off again.

How many times did you tell us the fee was agreed?

Bumping a thread with some off topic agenda ridden drivel? I thought you hated it when people did that?

I look forward to your reply of cursory insults and attempts to belittle.

I'm happy to accept apologies from those of you who were 100% wrong and giving me stick. That includes you and your new thesaurus Mystic

Numerous Sources (sounds like he's getting desperate):

Sevilla president Jose Castro will not stand in the 21-year-old's way if he wants to go, but he insists the La Liga club are under no pressure to sell and will not budge on their valuation.

The Spanish club are believed to be demanding £25million for Moreno, who has also been linked with Liverpool's Premier League rivals Tottenham.
"It's true that there is interest from a number of clubs, above all Liverpool, in him, but we haven't had proper conversations about selling him," Castro said.

"Signing any player from this club has a price and we will decide that price. If Alberto Moreno has to stay at the club he will stay but if a club pays the amount we think is big enough for him to leave, he will leave. But there is no pressure.

"We haven't reached an agreement, but talks haven't broken down. We'll wait and see what happens. If Liverpool are interested in the player and pay the right amount, he will be sold," added Castro, in an interview with Spanish newspaper ABC.
