Liverpool bid £16mil for Alberto Moreno

There seems to be a unanimous feeling that he's not good enough, that's pretty telling really. It seems like a bit more of an extravagant version of Alberto's transfer last season. Paying double what he's probably worth for no valid reason.

I love the way people aren't sold on moreno because of his defensive ability yet Glen Johnson has got a pass for that nigh on every season he's been with us

The Sevilla fans are happy he's going, they need to be in tears for me to be happy about a signing,

And its back on... Ayre flying out this week to finalise the deal, 18 million with Aspas joining them on loan going the other way..

I won't. The little I've seen of him marks him out as an attacking a full-back as you can get.

He'll give some excitement if bought.

Yeah he'd be a lot of fun, he looks great going forward, and that was our only weakness in terms of attack last year - the non-existent contribution from full back.

He doesn't necessarily have to start games where we need a more solid presence in defence, remember.

Yet didn't he have something like just a couple of completed crosses last season ? Or am I thinking of someone else ?

Seeing as the old thread is locked. Looks like Rodgers is getting his first choice left back.

@ViktorFagerLFC: #LFC would pay up to £16m for Moreno. It's understood a breakthrough has been made on valuation in the recent days. (Tony Barrett)

Ayre travelling to Spain to conclude the transfers of Moreno and Manquillo.

This is a mistake I feel - why wouldn't Athleti have gone for him if he was the 'best' young LB available (to replace Luis)?

I just hope we're not cocking this up ...

Merged and unlocked. .

With these two signings, a marquee striker signing, sell Reina, Agger, Toure, Assaidi and Borini job done

If we pull off these two signings and sell some deadwood, then the squad is starting to shape up.
But, I'll be disapointed if we dont spend some serious money on an established player with some goals in him.

What a LB who cannot tackle? I stopped watching at the opening page saying weakness: tackling!

The amount of new players = a squad rebuild. It's going to be tough to keep last seasons form and also include the new players in the Rodgers way. I fear it may be a season of adjustment.

Obviously losing Suarez means rebuilding the front line, and maybe moving away from the midfield diamond, basically there so we could accommodate both Suarez & Sturridge. Seems we'll be using 4-3-3 much more this season. However overall it's more strengthening than a massive change.
I'm just loving the strength in depth we have acquired (assuming a new striker, Manquillo & Moreno).

---------------------------------------- Ming

Flanno ------------------- Lovren ---------- Sakho ------------ Moreno
(Johnson / Manquillo) (Skrtel) (Lovren) (Enrique / Flanno)

--------------------------------------- Gerrard
(Allen / Can / Lucas)
---------------- Henderson
(Can / Allen / Rossiter)
----------------------------------------------------- Coutinho
(Lallana / Sterling / Suso / Texeira)

---- Sterling ---------------------- Sturridge -------------------------- Lallana
(Markovic / Suso / Ibe) (Lambert / A.N.Other) (Sterling / Coutinho / Ibe / Texeira)

I find it difficult to see Coutinho starting next to Hendo. I know he did it a couple of times last season, most notable being against Everton but am I right in thinking Gerrard was absent for that game?

I think he'll rotate more with the other forwards and that we'll see Can, Allen or Lallana in that role. Would love to see him there though - a great sign of intent and he gives his all when he's up for it!

Liverpool must wait to close the signing of Sevilla fullback Alberto Moreno.

Sevilla sports chief Monchi insists Moreno will face Real Madrid in the European Super Cup this weekend.

Liverpool have been in talks with Sevilla this week over a £16 million deal for Moreno.

"Alberto trained very well yesterday and like the rest of his teammates is preparing for the European final, it is true that there is a club that wants him and we have been in contact, but today he is going to play the Super Cup final for Sevilla," declared Monchi.
