Liverpool related transfer speculation

Looks like Klopp is out of retirement and the new AS Roma manager.

Is this definite? Just messaged my Juve-supporting cousin to ask if he'd heard anything. He hadn't, and said he'd be a bit surprised as Ranieri has done very well there since he came in.

Klopp after a year setting up a new structure in red bull isn't going to go to Roma. That would be insane. At some point sure, but 1 year? Nah

Latest outgoings roundup I've seen

Kelleher - villa/leeds 40m
Tsimi - Leeds 20m
Elliott - wolves 40m
If we can get a combined £80 million for Jota and Nunez then it’s not out of the question we spend £220-250 million considering we didn’t spend anything last season and winning the league/champions league league.

180m on top of a supposed warchest?

Ooof

Wirtz (120), kerkez (40), Frimpong (30), CB (40-60) Ekitike (90), David (Free)

Thank you and good night

Stick in Angelo Stiller for shits and giggles - £35m and we would have won the transfer window

If Hughes lands Frimpong, Wirtz, Sesko and Kerkez, I'll personally take the cunt cardigan shopping.

There was a lot of talk about there being a variable release clause between £60M-£80M depending on conditions, so a deal should be relatively straight forward if he want him. Of all the strikers linked I think Sesko ticks the most boxes our recruitment team would go for. By no means a finished project, though. Scoring 1 in 2 in Germany is like scoring 1 in 4 here, IMO. I was hoping his numbers would increase this season.

Oh OK I'll play the game since it's fun as we are actually buying players this season !

I'll start with I don't think Diaz or Konate are going anywhere. We are not overhauling 3 out of 6 of our forward line and renewing Konate is better than selling on the cheap and buying someone who may not be as good. We know what we've got and most of the time it's damn good.

Outgoing
Kelleher - £40m
Tsimi - £20m
Elliott - £40m
Nunez - Saudi for £80m?
Jota - £40m?
Chiesa - packet of popcorn?
5-6 youngsters for £10-20m?

If we get someone like Stiller then maybe Endo too but I think he'll stay.

£230m plus our usual £35m budget. £265m? Helluva war chest.

Incoming
Frimpong - was it £40m?
Kerkez - £40m
Marsh. : Paid for.
Wirtz or Stiller? £80 or £130m?
CF - No idea who I'd want as a starter but for sure it's going to be £80 - 100m. However if we get Wirtz then I don't see us going for a big money CF (no budget) - David could be enough and likely Jota would stay.
David - 'Free' so a no brainer TBH.

So without Wirtz that's most of the above (but still no CB) and if we get Wirtz then forget a big money CF.

Not sure about Wirtz,
I'd go for realistically at Cherki (£25m, ideally I wanted Saibari but he isn't on the radar), Kerkez (40m), Frimpong (30m), Wharton(£60m) CB (£50m) and a striker

I think we will lose Quansah, he wants game time, we can't give him that game time

I don't think that's too crazy given the tiny spend last year and winning the title this year. As you say, so much hinges on the Wirtz deal. If we can't land Wirz then I can see the club pivoting to Wharton and Cherki. It's all just guesswork really, but I'd be delighted with the above. We bemoan the club for not building from a position of strength and I think there is clear opportunity this window to do that by addressing some glaring areas of need. LB/Striker and AM can all be significantly improved upon, so it the players are there and willing, and the money makes sense, then I'm all for the club being proactive.

Wages will also creep into it. I strongly believe the club should leave enough room to extend Konate and get that deal done, so whatever happens this window, I hope we give ourselves sufficient flexibility to extend who we need to.

I think we'll spend £100m net or so. Maybe even more if we can sign Wirtz, who I think we'd be willing to push the boat out for.

I think we'll sign a CB to replace Quansah. Maybe they'll try to squeeze another year out of Gomez to avoid too much change.

Some crazy amount of money being bandied about though. Since when do we have, or have spent this kind of money? I will be pleasantly surprised.

Wirtz for example, his transfer fees, sign-on fees, agent fees, wages, paying off everyone in his entourage yada yada, will set us back by 150-200m easy. I am not sure how we are still realistically being linked.

Form the Athletic for Binomial

"But the fact that over the past six weeks, Hughes has finalised new contracts for Salah, Van Dijk and Bradley, as well as beating off competition to secure the services of Frimpong, bodes well for what’s ahead. Liverpool may have had a late-season wobble but there’s no resting on laurels. Slot and Hughes are already busy plotting next season’s challenge, and so far, Hughes is playing a blinder."

We don't need another saga of Barca not having the money to pay us for a player, although it would give me a new punchline for my annual accounts threads.
Although the idea of Lucho tearing Trent a new one a few times a season in La Liga does appeal to me.
