Liverpool related transfer speculation

Next two ties are against attacking teams with pace down the sides, so being forced to field a more defensively sound Gomez might actually work better for us. Assuming his body holds up of course.

I'd sooner take a chance on that than shoehorn someone who's never played RB into the role, even someone as fit and powerful as Szobo.

Eurgh, when is Bradley back? It'll be Gomez for now and then Jones in a pinch. Not ideal, but not a disaster. We need a CB fast.

Why has this happened to Bayern?
Success? Money? boring league?
If they *really* wanted Chiesa, why would *he* say no?
Go read Bayern Spaces earlier tweets. Seems there’s some kind of power play between the sports recruitment team and the management. Also their expectations have been lowered, they want to simply win/compete in the Bundesliga. They’re modelling themselves around Juve apparently. Go read his tweets, fascinating stuff.

That seems so un-bayern-like ... Wonder what drove the lower expectations?
I guess it must be financial -

(never signed up for Twitter - so I don't get to see most stuff I look for a twitter handle).

hmmm yes please, i saw a couple of stopovers and that was enough.

i’d love one of those super highly rated wingers or strikers from south america right now, problem is once they emerge madrid/chelsea/city or whoever else are on their case immediately, slim pickings at this stage of the window.

Max Eberl recently requested approval from Bayern’s supervisory board to extend Michael Olise’s contract in order to effectively remove the release clause. The board strictly denied the request and made clear that an extension after only one season is not permitted, particularly if it involves an increased salary. Their stance was firm and unambiguous as Eberl’s responsibility is to reduce the wage bill and not increase it. The option to extend Olise’s contract is therefore completely off the table.

The supervisory board are not concerned about the prospect of Olise leaving next summer, since such a move would allow Bayern to recoup a substantial fee and secure the income they will require. With most major sales already completed this summer and several key players entering the final year of their contracts in 2026 including Serge Gnabry, Dayot Upamecano and Leon Goretzka, the club will be under pressure to generate further revenue from player departures.

Liverpool view Olise as their ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah and Manchester City also remain highly interested. Chelsea’s position depends heavily on their sporting progress, yet inside Bayern it has already been decided and confirmed that Olise’s release clause will remain in place.

No extension will be made and no removal of the clause is permitted, leaving Bayern effectively preparing to lose one of their most valuable players after only two seasons. For the board, the priority is not building around Olise but cashing in, a strategy that signals a preference for short-term income over long-term competitiveness.

Said this previously. Might be the long term Salah replacement. He has a release clause valid from next summer.

the bald guy on anfield agenda was saying this as soon as rumours of the release clause came out also. not sure replace is ever going to be the right word with mo, same with sadio.

important to keep an eye on good right sided forwards, they’re hard to find, so great if we’re actively doing that.

Agree. It's a replacement for the position rather than the player, but as you say it's something we need to keep on top of. Opinions vary about Olise and we'd need to do the usual due diligence on him, but AFAIC he's most definitely in the frame.

yea the pool of left footed right sided forwards that are fit to lace salahs boots is tiny. i wanted raphinha back when he was leaving leeds because i assumed mo performances would drop like an average footballer, got that very wrong.

Yeah you don't replace a salah, you mitigate the losses felt by salah. A better striker, AM and capable RW then we're nearly there. With ekitike (maybe Isak) and Wirtz, we just need the capable RW

I'm loving what I'm seeing from Olise - both at Palace and Bayern.

Arsenal don’t impress me at all even with new signings ,I’m sure Eze will boost their forward line, maybe it’s a good time to play them in our 3rd game before they gel, if they gel..
