Liverpool related transfer speculation

It's hard to really talk about wages like you are there - because the example I will keep using is that Robbo, who isn't a guaranteed starter and is **actually** making frequent errors that lead to goals, is on £160k. Ibu when fit starts every game and rightly so. I'd hate to be in a position where we are trying to bed in a new CB along with new LB, RB, and any midfielders or attackers we are also looking at buying.

Our next CB should be the heir to VVD IMO.
I doubt think we should or can use Robbo's salary in that context. Firstly he is Slot's first choice LB and therefore has been a guaranteed starter this season wherever possible,
Secondly he's been our first team choice, and an integral cog in our team, bringing us many trophies, over 7 years. That loyalty and his performance levels are what has put him on £160k and that's fair enough but it's not a bench mark.

Yeah we absolutely shouldn't be bedding in too many starters. However if Konate stays I think it'll only be LB as VvD, Konate and Bradley are nailed on (IMO).

Not getting Ibou renewed just to go after some poxy skinny cunt that looks about 12 is a farce, and a downgrade.

Virg and Ibou is a PL title winning CB partnership.

Got Hughes' filthy fingerprints all over this, can't stand the fucking prick.
We haven't said we're getting rid of him to go for a kid, we've said we're willing to think about an offer that's big enough, a lot depends on whether we think Ibou will sign a new contract. I bet you also think Trent is a prick for doing exactly what we are guarding ourselves from happening with Ibou.

Virtually all CBs average at least one brain fart a game, Ibou less, he's a top CB and often in our Top 3 MotM places. Liverpool fans however have the best CB in the world in VvD for him to measure up to and that would be an unfair advantage for anyone.

His injury record isn't the best and lots a question mark over him but he's worth paying a top wage to keep, not £200k but definitely £150k when you consider both the cost and risk of changing him.
To get a defender of Ibou's quality you would have to pay over £150k a week plus a huge transfer fee. I think he is worth £200k.

If we were basing it on quality then he's worth it, because of our structure (rightly or wrongly) I hope this means we are learning that throwing money at players and disregarding their fitness issues is counterproductive in some cases. We can't moan we haven't got money to spend but then be happy that we throw silly money at a player who then gets injured for months at a time. I like Ibou and hope we can work something out, but I also get the logic if you have a PSG or Barca willing to offer a massive fee, when we could then sign two quality up and coming defenders for the same cost.

The difference between £150k and 200k is about £2.6m a year. However, letting players run down their contracts has cost the club far more.
Up top we could be stronger with our negotiations as all 4 players (Nunez, Diaz, Cheesy and Jota) have their position in jeopardy. And if the club saw it fit to transfer all 4 and get in 3, its not something I would object to too much.

It's strange that no one has mentioned this guy currently tearing it up in the Eredivisie.

He's an attacking midfielder but can also play as a striker.

He shits goals. 23 goals in 28 games for Twente this season.

I bet Slot knows about him.
Brighton will probably buy him and sell him to us for £90 mill after one season.

Here's what Koeman had to say about him:

According to Koeman, the attacking midfielder has a number of 'big weapons'. "But at the moment he still has to tolerate a number of competitors ahead of him."

Thought about it
"We have thought about it," said Koeman. "We have also looked at Sem in a number of matches, but it also has to do with the competition in that position. He has several great qualities. Especially in the sixteen, with finishing. He scores a lot of goals. I knew I would get this question, so I looked with extra eyes this afternoon. He plays very deep as an attacking midfielder. When they (Twente, ed.) have the ball, he plays almost like a second striker. Then he is very smart, and for example he suddenly drops back when he gets a cross."

Steijn even finished the match against Almere City as a striker. Coach Joseph Oosting put him in that position after the substitution of Sam Lammers. Ricky van Wolfswinkel was absent due to an injury.

I can tell you why I ignored him. He is MF who imho is having a one season wonder. I would rather take the risk on a player who is built like a traditional #9.
If the boffins can identify Isak as a target before he became a £150m player then they can find another. I like the discussion we are having but I am relaxed and excited about the summer, as I think the backline will finally be addressed. We will get players that will give us explosive pace, an attack that will convert the chances created and set piece coach that will address set plays. Well thats what I am hoping!

Calling him motherfucker is a bit excessive...but I get what you're saying

Guaranteed start, guaranteed 250k p/w, guaranteed Kepa for Bournemouth.
Oh and a 35 year contract.
Tough to turn down

Appaz its an release clause for Spanish clubs to be inserted in the contract. Doubt this one is over.
Regarding Kepa. Bournemouth are interested in Kelleher, Doak and Elliott.

Of course he prefers us, but if we tell him that we're paying him less, playing him less and making him clean boots with the other kids then he'll obviously sign for another club.

Playing for Chelsea in the Europa League or playing next to Virgil in front of the Kop. Tough choice.
Hey money talks and Chelsea can still get CL football.
Also, the way Slot rotates, it's more likely he'll be playing next to Quansah.

I don't think Chelsea are offering that much more wages.
Really? The rotation bit has been done to death now. Huijsen is a ball playing CB that can play RCB and LCB.
If we sign him - he'll get more than enough minutes, and be the long term heir to Virgil.

i'd clean streets if you offered me a 150% increase on my current best offer ... Not a tough choice, it's called generational wealth.

Huijsen is on about 30k per week now. I doubt there will be to much difference in our wage proposals.
Its certainly not generational wealth. He'll have to move to Saudi for that to happen.

Chelsea are leading the race to sign Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen in a move that would be a boost for head coach Enzo Maresca.

Huijsen has a £50 million release clause in his contract that is thought to become active at the end of this season and Chelsea have moved to the front of the queue for his signature.

... ... ...

Huijsen has a number of admirers at home and abroad, including Liverpool and Real Madrid, but Chelsea have been tracking him since before January and are believed to be ready to pay his release clause.

Chelsea’s long-standing interest and plan for the 20-year-old is likely to be attractive to him, whether or not the club qualifies for next season’s Champions League.

There is already a favourable relationship between Chelsea and Huijsen’s agents, and Chelsea and Bournemouth successfully did business over goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga last summer.

I’d be shocked if Maresca is there next season if they don’t finish top 5.
