Liverpool related transfer speculation

So, are you saying we should sell him?

I referred your question to ChatGPT because I couldn't be bothered to answer for myself and here's what they came back with;

Selling Ibrahima Konaté would be a significant decision for Liverpool, given his role as a key component of the defense. While there is confirmed interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, Konaté has expressed that he is "flattered" by such attention but remains focused on his current season with Liverpool.

Liverpool is actively engaged in contract extension talks with Konaté, whose current deal runs until 2026. The club views him as a vital part of their defensive future, especially as they navigate the potential departures of other key players. Konaté has indicated a willingness to sign a new contract, provided the terms align with his expectations and reflect his importance to the team.

Considering his age, performance, and the club's current defensive needs, retaining Konaté seems prudent. Selling him now could necessitate finding a replacement of similar caliber, which may be challenging and costly. Therefore, unless contract negotiations reach an impasse or a substantial offer is presented, it would be advisable for Liverpool to focus on securing Konaté's future at Anfield.

Madrid are buying a whole new defence and they don’t realise their issue is the lazy assed fuckers across the rest of the pitch.

They will have four players - Mbappe, Vinicius, Bellingham, TAA who are not the strongest defensively. Unless they have a bunch of prime Kante’s running around, no team can accommodate four players with limited defensive responsibilities at the highest level.

Actually they are going to get Kerkez so he can tap up Szobo - who will do all the running for the team.

No point competing with Madrid as they have too much clout. Move onto the next target Ait Nouri or Hato. Me I would go for both as it covers the CB position too

Look - for the last 7 years all our defenders have been 6ft 3 or above, I think it has made a huge different at their best the 4 we have had in Konate, Gomez, VVD, Matip - they were fucking units man - and Quansah if he was as good as he was last season - then he would have fitted nicely in. So whoever we get - has got to be a fucking massive geezer.

but yeah - if Kerkez is fucking off to madrid then get Ait-Nouri - the only issue with him is that Afcon compeition.

"

Liverpool ‘expected to negotiate’ for Rayan Ait-Nouri

The Reds are competing with Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan for the Wolves defender, with Molineux chiefs working on plans to extend his contract to 2030 and considerably increase his salary.

The Old Gold value the 23-year-old at £40m-£45m, with interested parties like LFC ‘expected to negotiate’ for him during the summer transfer window.

Sources suggests that the Algerian may prioritise a move to a leading Premier League club, but his decision will likely be contingent on the outcome of negotiations with Wolves."

I remember some bellend tweeting that when FSG took over that we'd be "shopping at harrods". Turns out we window shop at harrods and thats about it.

Well, I asked ChatGPT to analyse your initial post.

The position you've shared is emotionally charged and reflects frustration with how a football club is handling a player's contract situation (specifically Ibou, likely referring to Ibrahima Konaté). Here's a breakdown of its correctness and context:

1.

  • "Ibou leaves for nothing": This assumes that Konaté is leaving on a free transfer. That would only be correct if his contract expires and he departs without a transfer fee.
  • "Don't want to hear anyone blaming the old regime": Implies the current leadership had time to act but didn't, possibly valid if it's been months since the renewal offer was acknowledged.
  • "After the Lille game 4 months ago...": If the player indeed confirmed a renewal offer publicly around that time, and no updates followed, it's fair to question the follow-up.
  • "Nothing since": This might be speculative unless insider info confirms there's been no progress.

2.

  • It's written in a frustrated, accusatory tone.
  • Phrases like “Russian roulette” suggest the club is taking unnecessary risks with player retention.

3.

  • Valid concerns if the club has a pattern of letting players run down contracts.
  • However, speculative unless the full picture of negotiations is known (e.g., the player's demands, agent's role, etc.).

Suggested Improvements for Clarity:

To make the statement more balanced while still expressing frustration, it could be reframed like:

"If Ibou ends up leaving for free, it won’t be fair to pin it on the old regime. He said four months ago after the Lille game that a renewal offer had been made, but there’s been no visible progress since. It’s starting to feel like we’re gambling with key assets again."

Are you frustrated Binomial? Do you need a wee hug or something, or a reach around?

You do know he’s not black to match your ferish?
That's a shame, talking about black - has Konate signed yet ? - if not why not ? - why are so many people on here saying that the club should not be held to ransom ? - what the fuck is that - he could walk into Real Madrid and get that and then some, we need to pay our players the market rate when we know how good they are. Its just silly shit bollox we are doing.

Pay them the market rate. Not the inflated no transfer fee rate. If they don’t take the market rate then sell.

Well if VVD is on double what he wants - then I think its fair what he is asking for. Its not his fault that FSG have not paid him more when they should have realised his talent after the CL final performance (in fact he was superb that season).

He’s not as good as Virgil. He’s not the club captain. The data nerds will take that into account and will say he’s worth up to a certain amount. If he feels he’s worth more he can get that from PSG after they give us an oil drum amount of cash.

I reckon our data nerds don't give a fuck about running contracts down and letting players go free.

They have done it before, Emre Can for example, they made an offer, he wanted something they wouldn't give and that was that.

Found a replacement, probably on cheaper wages and went on to win shit.

I’m sure someone on here used some rough numbers showing paying up for Trent would’ve cost more than buying and paying Frimmylad.
