Well, you say players are selfish and will "leave a sinking ship", I think a little more highly of gerrard and Torres - both stayed with their boyhood clubs much longer than they needed to.
it would be better to be shellfish if you're leaving a sinking ship, no?
I have the mussels to make a go of it.
But where does this leave the new manager, who will be a "fish out of water" ?
Stop this incessant carping Themn.
Well, you stop skating around the issues and know your plaice.
Look, we all know rafa isn't the sole reason for our problems, but this clubs needs every little ray of sunshine it can get, so I hope the club can seal the deal and reel in a new manager to net us another trophy soon.
I look forward to the day we find another star who isn't a fish out of water, but, is a pearl and all this crabbiness, bitching and generally going at each other hammerhead and tongues will be put to sea bed.
The club is clearly in the jaws of imminent failure but let's not all whale on the players, you're not codding anyone by doing that. It's a fin de siecle, that's all. Rafa should be happy. He's off the hook but I just hope we don't replace him with the Manatee wood Park.
I just hope we shell out for players and don't have have to go sponging from the bank adding to increased interest stings, leading to more greef and barriers to expansion.

Great many sharks out there.
As Rafa waves goodbye to the club, there's bound to be rumours that players will be shipped out, and some may indeed be angling for a move. Sure we'd all miss the sight of Torres herring past opponents and eel prpsper wherever he goes but let's leave our own bass instincts and interests aside for a moment. Shorely there's more to Liverpool than a few star players, and if we all roe in the same direction we'll be back on our perch in no time.
I agree.

*draws a plimsoll line under the whole thing*
I've hadd ockasional doubts though.
*lobs stars*
God knows I hate to see the club flounder, but we need to see pa-sturgeon-t issues and think long-term, that's the bestrout.
God, where are The Cray Twins when you need them ?
Dead I think but British cities have surely spawned other ganglords.
Who have their minions that toady to them as they leap-frog one another.
Yes, they foam at the mouth as their master's wishes surf-ace. But don't bait them.
Stop reeling me back in, Gene Hughes !
I tell you what Tom and George are missing a trick here. They could save the trouble of getting a yes-man manager, and just become joint managers themselves. Then they could sell who the fuck they wanted , buy a load of more shite and watch us go down the tubes that would really be in their best interest....oh wait.
I think what's in their best interest to do and what they 'actually' do aren't really the same thing. it was in their best interests to build the stadium.

There are two or three really thick individuals posting on this subject tonight......

opinion that doesn't fall in with the masses = thick

The way they see it is it's not about what is best for the club, or how shite we have been last season, or dressing room unrest, a scheming Macheavelian manager who causes trouble in an empty house, and demanding complete control (ha look where that got us/him) a squad that has become paper thin and some stupid stupid signings, and worst of all putting all our eggs into one basket leaving our only realistic goal scoring option a brilliant but fragile striker.
He should have been sacked for that last bit of negligence alone.
These thicko's just can't accept they are wrong about Benitez, nearly everyone eventually cottoned on, it took some longer than others, but here we have the last tatty vestages of the RCDNW brigade and as usual everyone else but the fucking manager is to blame.

don't make out that the people who support rafa are fucking build to his short comings, I'm well aware of rafa's failings last season and I don't need them spelled out but I also believe that for the things he has done whilst at the club he'd earnt the right to put it right .

I'll also add that the potential managers to rafa over rafa's old job don't exactly fill me with confidence, well never mind eh, they are bound to be better than rafa. hopefully the new manager will be given the transfer funds of ALL the people he sells (unlike rafa last season).
With all due respect - are you dyslexic, Neil?

sorry to be negative but this Liverpool board are not willing to back a manager either with money or judgment, they will appoint the kind of manager they deserve and in their image, a spineless liar and preferably a cheap one so they can save a few quid on the managers contract
You're so unbelievably tedious.
It's tide-ious.
Haha.

I actually respect Neils opinion because you can have a debate with him, he recognises Rafa has his shortcomings, doesn't particularly get preachy and is generally a good poster and a good contributor to the site.

Rebel shows up every now and again, spouts his 'Benitez is Jesus' jive and won't listen to anything offered in opposition.

I think for that reason it's a bit harsh to label Neil as thick or whatever.

Oh and you should meet the shift key.

I find it ironic how a european cup winning manager is suddently 'shit' (but according to sky still highly valued in Europe) and the chairman of BA which is in a bigger mess than LFC and the fund manager Purslow are suddenly brilliant and know how to run a football club

I guess we will soon see where this Liverpool board of cunts decide to take us and on what measly budget they demand it on. Whatever it is I'm sure Oncy and co will still expect us to fight for the title and when we don't spend months moaning, complaining and bickering

Oar what?
Oar I'll be forced to be rude and call you a wanchor, or something.
Yacht not do that matey.

sorry to be negative but this Liverpool board are not willing to back a manager either with money or judgment, they will appoint the kind of manager they deserve and in their image, a spineless liar and preferably a cheap one so they can save a few quid on the managers contract

Rebel believes we shouldn't have police.

We should "police ourselves".

Really.

Jesus, that's not what I was expecting or hoping to wake up to this morning.

Initial thoughts off the top of my head:
- Sadness
- Disappointment
- Resignation
- End of an era
- I really hope the board have a plan up their sleeves and this is the first instalment of it. As Ross say's; new owners may be waitning in the wings and didn't wqant Benitez. Fine. I can l;ive with that. If yhi is just a sacking for the sake of it, then what's the point?
- Hodgson will be ushered in cos he can manage on fuck-all budget, is old and experienced - Sounds like when Leeds shoe-horned in Venables under similar circumstances
- Gerrard's got the choice of Mourinho at Madrid, or Roy at our fucked-up club. See ya Stevie.
- I loved Rafa. But then I loved Houllier too and didn't want him to be sacked.
- Nah, I love Rafa more. I'm upset.

Just fucking shut up already.

The same board who broke our transfer record for defenders, midfielders and forwards, that board that's unwilling to back a manager?

The same board that bought Torres, Mascherano and Glen Johnson?

Shut up, just shut up, you're always full of so much shit it's untrue. You make massive assumptions on shit you know nothing about, and consistently demonstrate you know fuck all about stuff, even with the benefit of being in full possession of the facts.

You're always wrong and your posts make my eyes bleed, please do everyone a favour and disappear to RAWK. You'll fit right in over there and we won't have to put up with you any more

hey, I AM thick but I don't like being called thick because I support a manager going through a tough time. I can list most of the things rafa did wrong last year just as easily as the people who wanted him gone but I look at his tenure over the six years not just the poor season we had last year. okay, people feel you are only as good as your last season, and that's fair but I'm of the opinion he'd earnt the right to attempt to correct his mistakes. and that's all it is an opinion.

Do you even read anyone elses posts? Did you read the one where I said we may have to go backwards before we go forwards? Are you seriously clinically fucking retarded? I mean seriously?
Your posts bare no relation to any conversation anyone else is having!
Please for the love of god stop. We all know the yanks are cunts. We know we are in the shit.
Many of us feel that Rafa is part of the problem, and are pleased that we are beginning to show signs of activity. You clearly aren't. That's fine. Just shut the fuck up. We get it.

At the risk of looking like a Daily Star article...

Benitez HAS:

Finished 7th with a team that should be placed higher up the table
Almost certainly lost the support of key personnel within the dressing room
Bought shite players in
Signed players we didn't need to
Prioritised things which could have been put on the backburner at the detriment to the club
Made baffling tactical decisions

All that and others are reasons for your Messiah being sacked.

Broughton, Purslow, Hicks, Gilette and co., despite not covering themselves in glory with us are only doing what all good businessmen would do. They saw a failing element of the club and have moved to rectify it. Benitez would have been sacked at every other club in the league.

There are two or three really thick individuals posting on this subject tonight......

charming.
opinion that doesn't fall in with the masses = thick

Dear, dear , dear............................It's even worse than I thought

1) The world recession fucked up the stadium , or did you miss that one whilst on planet fucking Zog. It also fucked up the rest of the yanks finances, just like it did to everyone else particularly DIC by the way, oh and Mr Abramovitch.
2) Opinion that doesn't fall in with the masses is not thick, as it happens, I was in a fairly small minority for much of his tenure , airing my doubts. Thick is not seeing the blindingly fucking obvious (or is that buildingly fucking obvious), and not being able to change an opinion as it is so deeply entrenched.
3) He has earned fuck all.....you are as good as your last match, or in a managers case ....last season. Anyway, he only won what he did with a team based on Houlliers squad anyway and in two brilliant but lucky finals.
4) You got a bit right Neil, anyone who comes in will be a better option to be honest. Rafa spent over £36m last window and brought a right back and a crocked midfielder (who may yet come good), and totally forgot about some cunt that could score goals.
