sorry to be negative but this Liverpool board are not willing to back a manager either with money or judgment, they will appoint the kind of manager they deserve and in their image, a spineless liar and preferably a cheap one so they can save a few quid on the managers contract
You're so unbelievably tedious.
It's tide-ious.
Haha.

I actually respect Neils opinion because you can have a debate with him, he recognises Rafa has his shortcomings, doesn't particularly get preachy and is generally a good poster and a good contributor to the site.

Rebel shows up every now and again, spouts his 'Benitez is Jesus' jive and won't listen to anything offered in opposition.

I think for that reason it's a bit harsh to label Neil as thick or whatever.
hey, I AM thick but I don't like being called thick because I support a manager going through a tough time. I can list most of the things rafa did wrong last year just as easily as the people who wanted him gone but I look at his tenure over the six years not just the poor season we had last year. okay, people feel you are only as good as your last season, and that's fair but I'm of the opinion he'd earnt the right to attempt to correct his mistakes. and that's all it is an opinion.
Yeah, exactly mate. If everybody had the same opinion we wouldn't have anything to debate about and then we wouldn't have a forum.

It's when you get posters like rebel, who spout shite, don't engage in conversation and spout more and more shite looking like some sort of crazed bot.

Sad to see Rafa go but if he had lost the dressing room and more importantly the senior players the board had no option but to let him go. Hopefully if the senior players are behind the removal of Rafa they'll stick around for another season at least and show a bit of loyalty to the club.

Haha true. He took exception, though, so I thought I'd try and act as a mediator. He's not all bad. Despite being a member of the cult.

Jesus, that's not what I was expecting or hoping to wake up to this morning.

Initial thoughts off the top of my head:
- Sadness
- Disappointment
- Resignation
- End of an era
- I really hope the board have a plan up their sleeves and this is the first instalment of it. As Ross say's; new owners may be waitning in the wings and didn't wqant Benitez. Fine. I can l;ive with that. If yhi is just a sacking for the sake of it, then what's the point?
- Hodgson will be ushered in cos he can manage on fuck-all budget, is old and experienced - Sounds like when Leeds shoe-horned in Venables under similar circumstances
- Gerrard's got the choice of Mourinho at Madrid, or Roy at our fucked-up club. See ya Stevie.
- I loved Rafa. But then I loved Houllier too and didn't want him to be sacked.
- Nah, I love Rafa more. I'm upset.
I would find it as lot easier to love Rafa if he showed some appreciation for his culpability in the shortcomings of our team. It was the same with Houllier. If anything, I crave a manager I could love.

Hopefully we'll get a manager who'll utilise our reservoir of reserve talent, cull the stragglers, bed in a few new additions and drag us out of this rut.

Perhaps it was wrong of me........

I've thought about it some more, and I'm still majorly disappointed.

Even more disappointing is how this thread has just morphed into one poster after another trying to outdo each other in declaring how shit Rafa was.

Cheers for the memories eh?

Oh and what? Rebel doesn't believe in having police?

He IS the reason we have police.

so sacking managers and celebrating the likely demise of our club is considered good now

jesus wept. I hope someone is saving these threads to quote back at every one of you

the good day is when the yanks fuck off and we stop existing to service their banksters. what you see on the field is a product of that

Benitez paid for every signing through prize money earned in competitions and will leave a much more valuable squad than he inherited, one that I fear will be sold off to pay back loans while we cope on an inadequate budget

Mate, no Manager's perfect. My Arsenal supporting mates hate Wenger, which I can't comprehend. There's always going to be something you can pick on.

I remember reading a post on here a few months back along the lines of "We need a new manager who doesn't do predictable subsititutions."

Seriously, what the fuck?

They all needed fucking off, IMO. The owners, the manager, and plenty of our players.

This is the start.

Viva la revolution!

No, they're "corrupt agents of the state", which may or may not have some validity to various degrees blah blah blah, BUT, if, for example, you're just an everyday Joe Shmo, ie, not a gangster and someone attacks you or your family, who is going to investigate/deal with that situation ?

Yeah, I've lost a lot of respect for him in some of the interviews he's done.

Everybody knows he's fucked up, he surely knows it too, why not be an adult about it and face the music?

There was a logical, if not very dignified reason for it degenerating that way though Ryan, and no it wasn't just because Rafa was shit.

Then you know what needs to be done. Just temporary like.

*knowing nod*

I used to like Rafa. It's only this season he has started grating on me. I don't hate him. I'm angry and frustrated with him, but I'll always thank him for what he has done for us, positively anyway.

I celebrate a much needed change. I don't think he's a shit manager, I just think he's the wrong fit for us and vice versa.

Rebel really has brought out the worst of some of us in this thread.

Don't go on a wind up then. Objective achieved for you.

I like Rafa.

I can't help it, I just do.

I understand that it's probably his time to move on but my heart is somewhat heavy.

I'll never call him names, just as I've never slagged off or been disrespectful of any of our managers.

I also like Houllier and was sad to see him go.

I'm concerned about what the future holds and who the frig can come in and makes things better, playing/team-wise.

Hey ho !

*Scrumpy Jack time*

No doubt i'll get the blame for taking the thread off topic rather than the other posters who are doing so

Why are you people making this personal and taking the thread off topic? why are you viciously calling me names and insulting me just because I dont agree with you on this topic? you all seem to be group think bullies who cannot stand an opposing point of view and instead want to talk about off topic stuff in a hot topic thread

i'm done here.

you just don't get it do you.

when someone breaks in to your house you just go 'you're under arrest. i'm the police', cos you ARE the police -- but so are they so they might arrest you first.

no system's perfect.
