Liverpool sack Rafa Benitez

Graham Beacroft has just come out on Talksport to confirm it (according to his sources)...

and recent sky sports article, points towards it. Liverpool Legends support it...

I found it hard to believe when I was told last week, Its gonna be happening... Short term it does makes sense. Team will respond to it... so will the supporters.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11096_6188773,00.html

Also the rumour is now doing the rounds on most Liverpool Websites,

Babel on Twitter.

"Please please please .. Don't ask me my opinion about #Rafa .. Its not smart to say something about it.. Thanks for understanding .."

maybe babel gave the board an ultimatum?

I think Rafa has been good for us however I would like to see someone with a different mind-set. He had a very strict outlook on where players had to be and what they did on the pitch. That does work obviously but it left us wanting when it came to team creativity needed to unlock those overly defensive teams - sometimes it just seemed like we just didn't believe we could win. I'd love to see someone who will let the reins off a little ala Wenger, Hodgeson? and really instill that 'we WILL win' attitude that you get with Fergie or Mourinho.

Thread wouldn't be complete without a Babel tweet.

i just want to reiterate.., and also get this back on topic

Kenny Dalglish is to be appointed as manager with Ian Rush as his assistant until the club has found a buyer.

Reasons; the owners see it as unattractive bringing in a new manager with new ideas whilst trying to sell the club. The new owner will then be able to do with the club as he pleases, appointing new manager, etc

Also it is believed by installing Kenny as the manager our top players will stay with the club, due to the high level respect the players have for him.

Rafa has gone due to player power..
Some of that sounds pretty sound to be honest. We need to breathe in and out before hiring a new manager. We need a board to decide in what direction do we want to bring this club and then react on that. Are we to be a purchasing club, or a developing club... What kind of of footie do we want to play, and then we need to find the manager who fits the bill, not first find a manager and then make the club fit the bill.

Yeah did have the question mark on there haven't really watched Fulham, just thought I heard they were playing more a fluid game. Must've heard wrong 🙂

I dont believe the player power thing for one second. most of them are professional enough to keep out of things like that and also like most players very selfish, they will leave if a big club tries to court them. we will see if they show loyalty to this Liverpool board soon enough when the predators begin to circle.

Purslow is a spinning little snake, dont forget that.

My guess is Inter are giving us the money they got from Real Madrid from Mourinho and then they will give that money to Benitez but are obviously haggling to keep some of it and to pay the next por soul's salary, or pay off some debt. This came from the blue and I expected something might happen with the inter vacancy. I at least expect Mascherano to go and there will be a big offer for Gerrard coming soon from Madrid.

I suspect they're getting rid of Benitez because he hasn't been guaranteed the money from sales, so say we do sell Gerrard, the new manager will only see a fraction. we're being systematically raped and the yanks and Broughton are getting rid of a potential obstacle to their plan, which is to asset strip Liverpool and run us on a shoestring

I could live with Dalglish through the summer, but once the football started I'd be extremely worried

I'd much rather we got a current manager in on a short term deal, and see where we went from there.

You are mental.

Give me one example of a business where the owners have "asset stripped" prior to actually selling up - it never happens, and you are talking nonsense.

two things that make it likely ;

1) predators will circle and flash their eyes at our better players. we will then see if they are loyal to this Liverpool board as the spin from Purslow suggests or if they hand in transfer requests after a long running media saga

2) it might suit the yanks to sell the high value players who are on big contracts to cut costs and pay off the debt they have to pay under the covenants agreed with the bank and give the new guy (someone who will accept the situation and manage our decline) a fraction of that money to bring in new players and fill the void

This is why I think they're getting rid of Benitez as he would have blown the lid on their plan and they can't have that

But if Benitez was fired cos he would have blown the lid on there plan, then surely a fired Benitez would do the same.

Think you may have over thought that one.

I am sure a snake like Purslow will have lawyers to make sure the severance 'deal' ensures he cannot talk about it and by then he will be in another top job concentrating on that so why would he? I am sure we will still get his side though, through trusted sources at some point

If it their 'plan' then why didn't they do it sooner? Wait til June so they could play him off fractionally less?

I don't think it's a masterplan to asset strip the club Rebel.

I won't, I can't, promise.

because I think Inter are involved some how and will be funding the pay off, there is no way the yanks would fund the pay off (out of what?)
