Liverpool U18 & U21

U19s are playing Atletico Madrid U19s right now in the UEFA Youth League, for anyone interested. 0-0 at the moment 11 minutes in.

edit: And Will Wright has been subbed off with an injury; Kareem Ahmed comes in for him.

Ended 0 - 0. Shite first half. Scrappy second half. Both teams played crap with some poor decision-making, passing and finishing. Bloody waste of time.

Ouch... The U18s got mauled 3-8 at home by Blackburn U18s. Was 2-3 down at half time, then shipped another 3 in a hurry in the 2nd half before going a lad down. Then let in two more before a late consolation.

Don't think I'm going to go looking for a clip of that game.

All of our defenders at youth level are a fucking shambles and have been for years.

14 goals in 4 games they've conceded - u21s 8 in 3, the young gobshites. Utd top with a GD of 15-0, what's the point.

Halftime score:: 1 - 1. We were looking the better side for a while, and then they equalise with a stiff shot that went in at the near post. Shame, because we'd defended well the whole half and that was their first good opportunity.

Our U21s keeper, Armin Pecsi, who arrived for a reported 1.5m this summer, looked suspect again for their goal.

Lucas Pitt, our RB who started ahead of Calvin Ramsay, has looked solid, and Bradshaw has shown good work rate on our right. Been a game of few chances so far, but we've shaded the first half I thought. The Mancs came in having won all their first 3 games (our record is 1W 2L) so I was expecting them to boss us. So, this was a bit of a pleasant surprise I guess.

We’ve got a fair few Hungarians now
They kind of come in batches... we can have none for a while, and then a few of them all at once. At one point, we had Peter Gulacsi, Kriztian Nemeth, Krisztian Adorjan and Andras Simon. Only Gulacsi panned out though, but only after he left us to join RB Salzburg (on a free!).

Finally Pecsi does something well -- good save from a well-struck goal bound shot. The Mancs have been the much better side in the second half.

1 - 2 to the Mancs now. Poor defending down our right. Can't quite tell if it was Ramsay at fault there. Probably so, because Pitt had switched to LB when he came on. Anyway, terrible defending. They'd put us under pressure the last 10 minutes or so, so their goal always looked like it was coming.

u21s are all dogshit, recruit some proper talents. None of these guys playing today will even make in league football.

Yep, I've been saying it for a while now. When I used to follow our reserves, we're talking way back when Suso and Sterling were playing, it was quite obvious to see that they were head and shoulders above the rest.
We don't have one of those from what I can see.

It's funny, I didn't think Jones was all that either, but I think he was a late bloomer and his move from the wing to midfield and exposure to first team training really helped him.

Wait until you see Bajcetic play with the u21s. He'll be easy to spot.
