Shanghai Hairy Crabs. Only in Autumn. My wife is a seafood 'specialist' coming from a port city where meat often can't be found on menus ! However she's not that keen on the Hairy Crabs. They are quite small and it's a pain to get at the meat and of course the taste subjective (Shanghainese food in general isn't great and not much loved in China - they add sugar to everything) !
My absolute favorite Chinese food is generally Sichuan. You enjoy it?

One of the best cuisines if you are dining with a large-ish company. Lots of small plates, strong flavours and the fermented stuff is good for you. Goes well with booze too.
For the UK-based (and I guess more specifically those down South) Jin Go Gae in New Malden does excellent Korean BBQ - they use wood-fired BBQs rather than gas, which gives it that nice extra flavour. You need to book though, as the queue is always out the door
 
He is so forward thinking - I love the way he just wants to progress the ball, those passes out to Diaz were amazing. When I see Endo play, he gives hope to every Asian person like me - that we might be able to make a life in football despite years of British Colonial rule - that we can aspire to being a common footballer and not just aim to be a doctor/engineer/lawyer/accountant/restaurant owner/corner shop owner/businessman/cricketer !!!! #AsianFootballersMatter !!!

I had no idea Britain had colonized Japan!

2.Chinese
3.Turkish (horse meat kebab, shawarma, mixed grill)
4.American (fried chicken, bbq meat)
5.English (pies + roast)

Never ventured beyond this... Japanese is too bland for me.
You need to check out more Japanese food then. Your choices seem to be in the direction of junk food, and there are plenty of those in Japan as well.
Don't go to Kyoto or the expensive sushi places in Tokyo. Go to Osaka. In case you ever visit.

No way have you never tried any Italian? Not even a good chicken and mushroom risotto?? Or a spinach and goats cheese ravioli???
 
Northen Indian is for teenagers who love cream in everything and get drunk all day

Southern Indian is vastly better
I think it was Northern anyway, the one with all the different food variations and ranges of spices. I'm sure it's all good.

I would struggle in Japan, purely because of the language barrier. I can see myself in Thailand and Malaysia but I just haven't built up my curiosity for Japan yet.
Here's a question, why does modern Japanese architecture suck so much? For such an advanced country where aesthetics is important, they produce some of the wort looking post world war buildings.
