it's a shame that gerrard, meireles or adam can't play the role of holding midfielder as you would have the benefit of their strengths (passing, set peices, runs into the box) and also a shield for the defense. you could pair gerrard with meireles and still have wide players for the left and right flank.

Our signing of Henderson (and probably Adam) would suggest to me that SG will occupy a deeper DM role this season and IMO he's more than capable of doing this.
