I think there is a lot of ownus on Maxi now. We dont have many creative players left.

And yes Neil, 'obviously'. But Maxi will score more goals this year and will have more medals too.

you could drag out the respective players goals/assists tally but as you said maxi is past his prime.

raul ran for miles and miles in games, I seem to recall that he ran more than kuyt, that kind of performance opens spaces, provides options for passes and helps provide defensive cover. Maxi is nothing like that

Maxi went from hiding underground to scoring hat-tricks. Massive improvement and valued squad member. I don't cringe when I see him on the field these days because he actually contributes and showed us that he can be a matchwinner!

You forgot that both are chickens. I doubt Maxi has ever made one tackle so Meireles is a bit hmm..."tougher".

 

[Insignificance]

Maxi is a good man. He will suit this squad well, and balance it. Even if he is no automatic first choice, he add depth to the squad. Meireles should have been a first choicer if he had stayed fit over the preseason... But Maxi adds a bit on the versitality part. I will miss Raul, but I am happy with the squad now.

i) I like singing his song at the match
ii) I like singing his song when I'm pissed.
