He’s not that good. Anything above head height and his brain goes to mush. He also got beaten up by the midget that is Sterling.
He was joint 4th best player (with Salah) in the second half of the season according to the MOTM awards. Behind Mac, Ali and Diaz. The thing about Szobo IMO is that after a flying start he stopped scoring goals and the cutting edge to his game at that time seemed to fizzle out. He's kept on getting games though, and rightly so IMO, because of his incredible engine and ability to press from the first minute to the last. If he can rediscover that final pass or shot he'll be even better.
Agree. We've had glimpses when he's been injured and thankfully the drop off hasn't been enormous (it's been big. But could have been worse). Hopefully mamardashvilli is capable enough. The one player whose departure / retirement scares me the most is Alisson at this point in time.
Even Reina, good as he was at his peak, doesn't compare. For all the appreciation Alisson gets, he should get more.
I just can't go back to having a dodgy keeper.
or Elliott !Underrated or Overrated?
It so happens that one's answer to either question is also often another's to the other question.
The meh-genius duality property of a player.
The ultimate Schroedinger's Player.
Introducing... Curtis Jones.
I can see us using Ekitike there if we sign Isak. He has surprising pace for a giraffe, and definitely very tricky feet, so may even get past defenders more often than Diaz. Linking with Kerkez too. Maybe this is Slot's plan (to rotate him with Gakpo). How could Diaz be under-rated? He seems very well rated in here.
My gripe is he is never the cause of any bad results just because he runs and runs all day. I get the endeavour but the lack of quality is stark. We are Liverpool, challenging for major titles and the point is that we cannot have our left FW producing next to nothing in big games.
Of course I recognise as well by now that I am in the very minority in having this view.
Fabulous goal vs Milan. Need to see more of that. The thing about Szobo IMO is that after a flying start he stopped scoring goals and the cutting edge to his game at that time seemed to fizzle out. He is under-rated on here but at the same time ... *head in hands*Nunez - 23/24 season with 31 GAs
It depends on how much of a drop off we see. If Marshmallow if anywhere near as good as Kelleher (and I think he's better - we saw a superb save in HK) then it's not a huge deficit and it's likely will not have a major effect, if any, on our results. The one player whose departure / retirement scares me the most is Alisson at this point in time.

The lack of quality was starting to show in the 2nd half of last season. Gakpo was battling with fitness, and when Salah doesn't produce, nobody else does, at least not consistently. It is no coincidence Slot and co. has gone all out to refresh our attack. It was on it's last legs.I can see us using Ekitike there if we sign Isak. By second half of the season I take that as meaning once the league was won and everyone took their collective feet off the pedal. The second half of the season where talks were of quadruple in Jan, then we got knocked out consecutively by PSG, Plymouth and Newcastle in the cups scoring a grand total of 2 goals from Chiesa and Elliot, both of whom had no future with us.By second half of the season I take that as meaning once the league was won and everyone took their collective feet off the pedal. Well yes and no. Losing to PSG (currently best team on the planet) on pens (though bossed in the first game - which we won) I wouldn't put down to our attack falling off a cliff. Ditto Plymouth when they didn't even play ! Or Newcastle where we were clearly knackered after having played 120 mins + pens vs PSG just 5 days earlier. The second half of the season where talks were of quadruple in Jan, then we got knocked out consecutively by PSG, Plymouth and Newcastle in the cups scoring a grand total of 2 goals from Chiesa and Elliot, both of whom had no future with us.
The second half where it was hands on deck for every league game while playing like crap but "getting the job done".
Yes that second half of the season.
Well, you can dress it however way you want. We weren't good enough. Bringing a 1 goal lead to Anfield and still not getting the job done was painful. Haha you think they 'concur' because we weren't good enough ? Despite being the top scorers in the PL by 14 goals ! And 123 in total.Well, you can dress it however way you want. We needed some new players and new ideas and I'm glad Slot and co. concur.
Playing full strength against Southampton killed us off. No need for it. Both Plymouth and Southampton games needed a fit Gomez to help keep the quad alive.Well, you can dress it however way you want. We weren't good enough. I am confused as to what is the point you are disagreeing with.Haha you think they 'concur' because we weren't good enough ? Despite being the top scorers in the PL by 14 goals ! And 123 in total.
They 'concur' because we tragically lost Jota, because Nunez, who hardly played, is being sold and because we've just sold Diaz for a huge amount for a 28 year old. So far they have replaced one and if Isak arrives then that's two, by necessity.
If we say Van Dijk is the best CB in the Premier League... we're underrating him, no?
