Most importantly, what was his celebration?

The loon ran past the edge of the pitch, over a barrier and into the moat. ;D

It was hilarious, now you see me, now you don't..

Anyway, over the two games he's definietly shown that he has something. He'll be a decent replacement for Riera, if he goes.

So we can maintain that he'll be leaping into the kop on an irregular basis!

Is he ours yet? Reports the other day said he hadn't signed and Rafa was now sniffing around him for Inter...

As advertised, really. Looks quick, strong, hard-working and direct, but his touch and decision-making are both a bit erratic. He'll be fine as a squaddie, but we need a better first-choice LW.

God, how long have we been saying that?

Apparently he came out and said that he wouldnt go back on his word and would be joining us regardless of the Rafa situation. Granted I think i read this at caughtoffside.com so its more than likely 100% untrue! He cant officially sign until the first of july anyway!

He can sign a pre-contract though, and there were reports earlier on that he had.

Yes but he cant sign the official contract until July 1st. And what i said earlier was regarding his pre agreement so whats your point?

Giving your word is not the same as signing a pre-contract. If what you said earlier really was "regarding his pre agreement" you needed to make that clearer.

Serbia World Cup 2010 star Milan Jovanovic will not break his arrangement to move to Liverpool despite Rafael Benitez's departure to Inter.

The forward's contract with Standard Liege expires this summer, having already agreed a switch to Merseyside. But reports had emerged that Benitez's exit from the club by mutual consent at the end of the season would see him attempt to bring the 29-year old with him to the San Siro.

Speaking to Sporza, Jovanovic insisted he was on his way to Anfield.

“I will not break the contract because Benitez has left," Jovanovic confirmed.

That clear enough?

He smashed a great goal against the Germans and looks an immediate improvement on Veronin!

What do you find so offensive about JJ's post?

Giving someone your word isnt the same as a pre-contract; and it isn't the same as a permanent contract.

What contract is he promising not to break, exactly?

Apologies if he's already signed a full contract with the club, obviously.

Because I personally don't know what he's done, promised or signed! And obviously cutting and pasting an article that could be a complete fabricaton, rather than just mention that i happened to have read something about it is the only way to satisfy some people (even if it is from a rag of a website)! All i did originally was mention that apparently jovanovic had said he was still coming here just to give an update to the forum! Mark seemed pretty happy with it!
Jules to me just seemed like he said something for the sake of saying something! So i pasted the article to show where iv heard it from, to distinguish the difference between whether it was Jovanovics word or an actual contract!
And it would seem to me that if there is any truth in the article, that there is indeed a contract that Milan Jovanovic doesnt want to break. I just dont know what it entails!

JJ suggested slug make what he said clearer. Slug provided the actual article. Case closed.

Fine. If you'd referred to an actual contract the first time, instead of waving around some airy phrase about "going back on his word", none of this would have been necessary.

International forward committed to Liverpool move

By Peter Jacobs.

Departing Standard Liege forward Milan Jovanovic yesterday confirmed he is set to join Liverpool, despite Rafa Benitez leaving the club. Benitez was the man responsible for bringing the six foot left winger to the Premiership, but speculation has grown since the Spaniards departure from Merseyside.

There were rumours of Benitez trying to ambush the deal and bring him to Italy with Inter Milan, as his contract expires with Standard Leige on 30th June. However, the 29 year-old Serbian was quoted by Belgian newspaper Sporza,

‘I will not break the contract (with Liverpool) because Benitez has left’.
Liverpool have not yet confirmed a deal but it is the strongest indication yet that he will be the first summer signing for the Reds. Jovanovic is a versatile forward who can play on the wing or as a supporting striker. With the reported departure of left wingers of Albert Riera and Yossi Benayoun, Jovanovic could have an important role next season as a wide midfielder.

With copious amounts of other reports linking players away from Anfield, the imminent arrival of an experienced international forward is welcome news for the fans. Former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby has been reported in saying what an ‘excellent’ signing he could be.

‘He’s got real pace and he’ll be an excellent signing if we get him.

‘There is much more to come from him [in the World Cup]‘ He told Liverpool’s official club website.
Jovanovic is currently playing for his native Serbia in the World Cup and has started both of their Group D fixtures. He was also on the score sheet in their second match against group favourites Germany.
