Miscellaneous - liverpool thread

Are they shown on the clubs website? I accidentally got the full membership opposed to the usual lite one. I used it for the preseason friendlies.
I think so, but maybe with a bit of delay. For example, you should be able to watch the U18s game highlights now.

ps. I can't test this 'cos I'm cheap, but I do see the U18s game highlights listed here:

The appointment of Iubel follows a rigorous four-stage global recruitment process involving Slot, Fenway Sports Group technical director Julian Ward, FSG director of football development Pedro Marques, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, and academy director Alex Inglethorpe.

The 36-year-old emerged as the standout candidate given the wealth of experience he boasts managing the development of young players at Brazilian clubs such as Cuiaba and Atletico Mineiro.

Iubel will work across Liverpool’s first-team, under-21s and under-18s training groups, as well as being heavily involved with those youngsters who are out on loan, to support their pathway into the senior set-up.
He will have a significant part to play in guiding exciting teenage talents such as Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni.

Fluent in Portuguese and English, Iubel also speaks some Spanish and German and holds the CONMEBOL Pro Licence, UEFA A Licence and UEFA A Elite Youth Licence coaching qualifications.

The list of players he helped to develop before they successfully moved from Brazil into Europe’s top leagues includes Igor Paixao (currently at Marseille), Igor Jesus (Nottingham Forest), Yan Couto (Borussia Dortmund) and Abner Vinicius (Lyon).

Liverpool advertised for a specialist set-piece coach last summer but unable to find a suitable candidate it was decided that it would become part of Briggs’ responsibilities.

With Iubel on board, former Wolfsburg coach Briggs will focus solely on set-pieces going forward.

RE: Aaron Briggs set to be confirmed as first-team set-piece coach

Feb 2025

The Reds beat Pep Guardiola's side 2-0 at the Etihad. Goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai helped the visitors do the double over the defending champions this season.

A well-rehearsed training ground ploy saw Alexis Mac Allister play a low corner to Szoboszlai, who redirected the ball into the path of Salah in the center of the penalty area, with the Egyptian turning his shot home via a deflection.

The mastermind of that routine has been revealed by Virgil van Dijk as Liverpool's first team individual development coach Aaron Briggs.

"Yeah, we worked on it in training yesterday, Aaron Briggs came up with it," Van Dijk said. "Did it work that well in training? Yes. I think we scored once in training, out of three maybe, I'm not sure. But obviously we practiced it and every game we try to score from set-pieces, and today we were clinical."

Briggs is likely an unfamiliar face to a lot of Liverpool fans. He was appointed during the summer, taking over from Vitor Matos who departed the club at the end of the 2023-24 season.

The former Manchester City analyst is highly rated within the footballing world, and it was reported that Mikel Arteta was also eager to recruit him at Arsenal before he agreed to a deal with the Reds.
