Mo Salah 2025/26 Season

I think it's only going to be shoehorning for one season though. I think this is all about replacing Mo. next Summer. Getting the new forwards familiar with each other and the team, in readiness for Mo's departure.

Hopefully the damage to morale by then won't be too severe. And either Slot shows he has what he takes or we get someone who does.

I think both the team and Slot will be just fine. I've avoided this forum for most of the past week because of the ridiculous way OTT 'burn him' ! 'burn him' ! rhetoric of some. There's no way the club are entertaining that thought and most of the TV pundits are thankfully of the same mind so I don't have to listen to it there.

I don't think the club will be trigger-happy to let him go. But there is a point at which that will become a serious option.

Hope we don't get there. Today is an important three points, given our next two fixtures.

Yeah the team and Slot is doing ok?, just the small matter of losing over 50% of our games since last March and so far most of the new signings unable to integegrate into a struggling team. Results and perfromance will decide that, can't keep losing games and expect something to change without any sign of improvement.

He was utter shite (although he did look more eager than normal to track back), an open goal gift doesn't change that nor the fact he ruined about 95% of our attacks.

Fuck off Mo.

Fwiw, and I'm being serious, this has been Mo's best performance of the season. Final ball has been absolutely atrocious. But he's had some nice dribbles, some good ball progression. It's better than what we've seen in previous weeks.
Absolutely. He was great first half, gash the second.

He’s under just as much pressure as everyone and yet again for the millionth time in his career he’s come up with the crucial goal at the crucial time.

Hopefully he kicks on from here.

Moves up to 250 goals for Liverpool just 25 short of Roger Hunt.

Considering there are no active players with more than 50 safe to say we won’t see a player close to these numbers for a very long time.

What a legend he is.

Great Player. Much improvement today. Did well on the tap in from Martinez error. But more often than not when the ball goes out to him it breaks down. He has so much to contribute but not as a member of the starting 11 on a weekly basis.

it doesn’t have to be so polarizing. There’s some nuance where he could be super helpful because he still is a tremendous player, but if you look at the game, you’ll see time after time the ball goes to mo. It’s a dead end.

Tap in, ya on his weaker foot? First time with a defender closing. It was not a tap in.

Also I just don’t get this stance that he shouldnt be a member of the starting 11 on a weekly basis.

Today we went back to a playing style that has him more central to our attack vs Wirtz and hey presto would you believe it, we won, looked far more dangerous, created heaps and controlled the game for the most part.

Of course he has flaws and has had them for years but the positives continue to outweigh the negatives.

There is definitely a case to rest him more (and Sot has already done that more this season than Klopp ever did) and to take him off in the second half but we are a far better side starting with him in the team.

it’s nothing personal Dreamy: it’s Father Time. Does he still have something to offer? Yes. Will he still score goals yes.

But we are absolutely carrrying a player who’s first touch is terrible more often than not. Who can’t track back and whose passing boots were left in the dressing room. He was improved today but the right wing is still the place where most moves go to die.

It may be a spell but I would far rather play Frimmer or Chiesa out there for now.

We did well today, but it will be one step forward teo steps back as long as we continue with this Salah denial.

Ah come on now FFS. It was a goalkeeper error placed into his path a few yards from goal: he took it well, and some may have missed but hardly the stuff of undroppable genius.

He completely fucked up two breakaways, where we outnumbered the defenders, with atrocious foresight and passing. It should literally have been easier to score - he's the forward version of Jones.

On the wing he just ran into the FB and lost the ball when having two more opportunities 1 on 1.

First half : 8/10
Second half : 3/10

And yes even so it was still his best game of the season. It did seem like he was actually putting in a defensive shift - there's no argument he can do it when he's not being a lazy-arse. If he tires then sub him off, as we do with any other player.
