Most exciting January signing rumour?

We are nearing the opening of the January window, and BR has kept us guessing as to who he will sign. The class of players we are being linked with are below the 10 million mark, apart from pastore (correct me if I am wrong). There's nothing wrong with that especially if they become world class - after all Coutinho costs us £8m. So what has been in your opinion the most exciting prospect we've been linked with?

Yarmolenko is good, but I've switched over to the Konoplyanka bandwagon now. He's guaranteed to be a hit, in my opinion. With Yarmolenko there is a bit more risk, although the potential reward is just as high.

Konoplyanka is more dynamic it seems, quicker and more direct.

Yarmolenko is the more technical player, physically stronger, has a great left foot.

El Shaarawy is the best player we've been linked with so far, but I'd be surprised if that actually happened.

My impression is that Yarmolenko is the more physical one; Konoplyanka has smoother technique and close control. Yarmolenko is a bit like Gerrard in that he likes to play the game at high tempo, passing the ball with one touch whenever possible, bursting past players with sudden decisive change of direction and then holding them off with his strong frame. Konoplyanka's dribbling is a bit like Messi or Robben, but from the opposite side, he likes to cut in on his right and dance past the defenders waiting for them to make a mistake by either overcommitting or backing off a step too far thus allowing him space to shoot. Both of them have equally good shots, with the left and right foot respectively.

Yarmolenko has better goalscoring numbers, but he also loses the ball more often; Konoplyanka is hard to dispossess without fouling. That's probably the main reason why I feel Konoplyanka is a bit less risky investment for us; his style seems more suitable for a possession-oriented team (although he is not too bad at counter-attacks either). Personality-wise, Yarmolenko is more serious and captain-like, sometimes burdened by his own feeling of responsibility, whereas Konoplyanka is a happy-go-lucky guy, who just loves to play and feel the ball under his feet. It's difficult to choose between these two, really. I'd love to buy both, but that's impossible, right?

Hoping we still have the mini/Costa money to spend...…..

Didnt we blow most of that on Sakho/Illori without selling any defenders to balance the books?

Id imagine it will be sell to buy this January, hopefully we can move on a defender but I dont see us spending big

I'd hope we'd still spend £20m+ including the sale of either Agger or Skirtel

I imagine we'll only get a LB and maybe a DM, I'd love to ship Moses home and get either Konoplyanka or Yarmolenko.

I don't think we'll go for a DM at all. More than likely rodgers wants a LB and AM as he wants more goals from midfield.

Yep. Possibly a striker as well, if Aspas doesn't turn it around by January.

Agreed, goals from midfield is the priority right now. But we should be looking at a top class player to take over from Gerrard not a stop gap player to sit on the bench for the next 12 months. If the right player is not available then we should hold fire and fill other positions in the team because signing a world class central midfielder is an absolute must in the next 6 months if we want to stay competitive and we cant afford to do a Carroll on this.

i keep hearing from lome lad on reddit thats apparently working with the youth team that it will be a quiet january and a fucking mental summer

The january window is usually more hype than substance, very few top class players are available half way through the season for obvious reason
