You missed my point.
Clue = "Think along the lines of Spurs"
Clue = "Think along the lines of Spurs"
Ahh ok, i dont wanna be an a-hole here so basically my point was...
Look how did Spurs turn out. All that Bale money spent on "quality" and so what ?
The only reason they are on a streak is cos of a reject of a player had just been given his 2nd chance, banging them goals saving their arse. And he wasn't even bought with any of that Bale money.
Some ppl just don't get it. Money is no guarantee for success. There's so many other factors involved in building a successful team. Team and social dynamics, whether the player fit the team tactics, his attitude, personality, does he have character and fight in him ?, his adaptability to the culture and new teammates, etc.
Look at the Galacticos.
Look at Chelsea (without Mourinho)
Look at Man City
Still struggling to win the titles that they thought that sort of money would have won them easily
I'll say it again....MONEY DON'T BUY YOU SUCCESS. It will give you a better chance than many but there's no guarantees.
Suso apparently saying he should extend and go out on loan again next season, so guessing he wont be part of the squad.
Surprised some are ready to write off Wisdom. He's a young player with a lot of pedigree - played for England throughout the age groups, now the u21 captain, by all accounts doing very well for a decent Derby side.
My only slight concern about him is that I think he'd surely be better as a centre half, yet all his first team experience has been at right back. Hopefully we can find him a loan where he'll play centrally - same as Ilori - and they can then both come in after next season to challenge for the first team.
I'd definitely sign two attacking players, though. Hopefully Konoplyanka, and a striker. Our back up options to SASAS right now are pitifully weak - almost non-existent - so we already need much better, and will more so with (finger crossed) CL football next season.
Many people including yours truly had also written off Flanagan and, yet, look!
So you're basically saying that Flanno is shit?John O'Shea and Wes Brown won several titles and they were shite.
Flanagan is at least as good as those two. Ideal to have local squad players who will give their all even if not starting
So you're basically saying that Flanno is shit?
I'm sorry but Brown and O'Shea weren't shit. I remember a time when. He was preferred to Carra for England by some.
Flanagan can defend but he still doesn't offer enough going forward.
Well then you haven't seen McLaughlinPartially disagree. I think he is very good at making the right runs and taking up good positions when we attack. His crossing/ final ball sometimes needs some work but this can be worked on. His natural instinct going forwards impresses me for a young RB and I think as that improves, he will cement that place on the right (or left, if we buy a RB).
No they weren't but they were good enough for Man U.Well they were hardly next level players were they?
There were better players than those but they did their jobs well
Well then you haven't seen McLaughlin
No they weren't but they were good enough for Man U.
What I'm saying is that I agree that they're not exactly world class but they were better than Flanagan is now. We're talking about two players with bigger medal cabinets than Gerrard. They do deserve some respect despite being scum.that's my fucking point! I don't know if you're agreeing or disagreeing or what
I see Flanagan as a decent squad option. I'm not yet convinced that he's good enough to be a regular for a top 4 side.
I definitely got it wrong so did most here. Brendan didn't even rate him.
He's still young but he's got a long way to go before I can consider him to be as good as some of the right backs we've had in the past. Like Finnan and Arbeloa.
Flanagan can defend but he still doesn't offer enough going forward.
Priority next season in order:
- CM
- left back
- right back
- winger
- (young hungry) striker
sell the following:
Reina - 5m
kelly - 0.5m
aspas - 4m
bornini - 7m
coates - 2m
allen - 8m
assaidi - 3m
approx 30m there.
Borini for 7mil? Hilarious!
He'd go for half that amount.
What I'm saying is that I agree that they're not exactly world class but they were better than Flanagan is now. We're talking about two players with bigger medal cabinets than Gerrard. They do deserve some respect despite being scum.
Having local lads is beneficial but it can only take you so far, you need some talent as well.
granted 7m is prob at the high end of what we could get, but 3.5m is too low. he's young, works hard, and has scored the odd goal. I would be disappointed if we got less than 5/6m for him.
he'll be sold for £10m in the summer don't worry boy
