Van Dijk and Konate. Master and apprentice. Jedi and Padawan.
Best on paper is Van Dijk and Matip. They would've gone down as one of the best partnerships in Premier League history if Matip wasn't made out coco pops.
Not seen enough of Konate.
For me it's always been Matip and Virgil, Gomez had a very good season but he's still a liability at times with his awareness. But Matip and Virgil are 2 commanding presences who are also both better on the ball than Joe (my opinion of course)

Sums it up I think. We have four superb CBs now and any partnership will be great. Of course VvD +1 will be the PL's #1 pairing.
Fully fit Gomez and VVD but it’s close with Matip.

Konate will be best of both worlds.
He can wait his turn. He’s third choice for me at this stage.
He’ll get his chance in the next 10 games of history is anything to go by.

Gomez has it in him to become a better player than Matip IMO, but I don't think he's there yet, so - fitness permitting - VvD and Matip would be my nomination just now. Haven't seen enough of Konate to be able to rank him against the others at this point.
I think Matip is the better RCB then Gomez. However, I thought Gomez was virtually unplayable at LCB when Virgil went down last year. Maybe he is just better on the left side. He was infinitely better at LB than RB.
I haven't the foggiest regarding Konate yet, but you have to hope he is the best of the rest or that outlay becomes quite frustrating.

This. Likewise, when Lukaku comes to town I want Konate and VVD bullying him.
And on that note I'm very excited to see more of Konate, it's impossible to judge if he's mentally got it just yet, and that's at least half of the game for a defender, but his physicality, his ability on the ball, and his general technical ability look absolutely top notch.
Good post. Gomez' positioning on the left is far better than when he plays right side. Carra was the same when he played fullback, though he eventually grew into a good RCB. Bit of a pity that Gomez is up against the Virgmeister for the LCB position.

Right now, it's Van Dijk and Matip. But Matip will get injured sooner or later and I expect Konate to take his chance when he gets it. So I reckon we'll end the season with Van Dijk and Konate.
